Pros

This started as an exciting opportunity with a some great potential but it has quickly turned into a runaway train of poor leadership which results in a lot of last-minute brain-drain initiatives without the forethought to make big, lasting impact. The pros are: - Fully remote - Semi-annual meetups (fun but again, not a lot of planning goes into it and my experience is it turns into a big, expensive time-suck).

Cons

I joined Rattle with high hopes, drawn in by the promises of innovation and a dynamic work environment. Unfortunately, my experience has been marred by significant leadership shortcomings that have cast a shadow over the company's potential. One of the glaring issues at Rattle is the lack of effective communication from the top down. Important decisions are made behind closed doors, leaving employees feeling uninformed and disconnected. It's disheartening to witness a leadership team that operates with so little forethought, seemingly unaware of the impact their decisions have on the rest of the organization. Another major concern is the absence of a clear vision or strategy. Projects seem to lack direction, and there is a constant sense of ambiguity regarding the company's long-term goals. This lack of strategic guidance has resulted in a disorganized and chaotic work environment, where teams are left scrambling to find their footing. Moreover, the leadership team at Rattle seems resistant to constructive feedback. Attempts to voice concerns or suggest improvements are met with defensiveness rather than a collaborative spirit. This stifles creativity and prevents the company from truly harnessing the diverse talents of its workforce. In terms of employee development, the leadership's commitment to professional growth is questionable at best. There is a noticeable lack of mentorship programs or structured training, leaving employees to fend for themselves in terms of skill enhancement. This lack of investment in the team's development has led to a stagnation of skills and a growing sense of frustration among the workforce. Overall, while Rattle may have a promising product and potential for success, the current state of leadership is a significant roadblock. Until these issues are addressed, it's difficult to envision the company reaching its full potential. As an employee, it's disheartening to see such a talented team held back by poor leadership decisions. Biggest cons: - Chaotic, toxic leadership - Poor management

Pros

Rattle is one of those companies where you get to learn a lot and have the freedom to explore your own ideas. Great for young engineers to grow and learn with the team - Friendly and knowledgeable coworkers - Decent perks and good HR policies - Freedom to take ownership on the things you build - Good startupy tech stack, always improving - Quick to roll out new changes and fixes. Very easy to get your ideas into production.

Cons

- At relatively low scale, so technical projects are always overshadowed by new product features - Leadership lacks experience in both engineering and business. As a result, you will see a lot of unrealistic claims, sugar coated numbers, cluttered team and system structure, prioritising things overnight without researching it - Chaotic communication and transparency. Slack messages, Google sheets, Jira, Confluence, Phone calls - everything's somewhere - Feedback is not always taken seriously. It is rather countered by things like "come to me with solutions, not problems", "we were at 0, now we're atleast at 5/10"

Pros

1) Good tech stack. 2) Using latest tools and technology 3) Cool environment to work with. 4) Everyone around was cooperative

Cons

1) Overambitious ARR targets led to excessive hiring; failed to achieve even 20% of goals, resulting in layoffs in tech and operations. 2) Lavish spending on trips and parties, yet unable to cover employee salaries. 3) A few dedicated tech team members; others seem disengaged, just collecting paychecks.
