I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time for less than a year

    Pros

RGG has handled the challenging times during COVID so well and has continued to stay connected to the employees. Culture feels very family oriented and everyone cares about each others well being. Alot of opportunity to make an impact and a good amount of autonomy within your role

    Cons

None at this time in my experience

    Pros

Great vacation time, discount and benefits.

    Cons

Let me start by saying that when Covid-19 hit we were told almost daily by upper management that we wouldn't be laid off, fast forward to a month later 90% of the department was laid off. Don't make promises when you have no idea what's going to happen next. The pay was horrible, and definitely not up to standard. You sign on being promised a commission structure that doesn't exist. If you're lucky you take home an extra $150 every 3 months. Our department was remote, so higher-ups believed they could pay us next to nothing. In 2020 upper management informed us they would be restructuring the "commission", so no one was getting a raise (not a great way to motivate your workers). That never happened because they laid-off 90% of the team 2 months later. Management refused to listen to our request for any sort of tech support, resulting in our team using the same slow software year after year with the same results. Also, the CS team is ineffective and takes days to respond resulting in upset clients who leave the program.

I’m sorry that this was your experience working at RGG. COVID-19 has affected us and many other retailers in unpredictable ways beyond our control. Unfortunately, these unforeseen circumstances required us to make some difficult decisions particularly with our personal shopper department. These decisions are never easy but were necessary to appropriately right-size this business. We always strive for our compensation to remain competitive within the industry, which is why in 2020 we made an update to the commission structure with incentive increases based on performance. Performance based incentives are standard in the retail sales industry. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact me directly.

I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The Diversity and Inclusion Committee has been a significant source of positive change at RGG. The conversation and action within the company and externally facing to be better allies and encourage educational learning is one of my favorite parts of company culture. - Very happy with the company interest in taking steps toward achieving more diversity and being more inclusive as committee has guided Lunch & Learns, Education Sessions on Juneteenth, Intersectionality, etc. and provided an overall safe space for people to create community while being in a corporate setting. It has been especially helpful with the transition to remote. - Collaborative team culture - Relaxed dress code, good benefits, and Surprise & Delights (think Ben & Jerry ice cream parties and Creative Department’s coffee barista that sets up shop in during holiday season).

    Cons

    - Work life balance is self-driven, you need to be your own advocate which can be tough at times. - Still try to function like a start-up so many employees wearing many hats and juggling a lot of responsibilities. - Communication and collaboration with other teams has room to improve.

    Pros

nice employee discounts decent benefits good co-workers

    Cons

short term focused not a well respected company or management team lagging in innovation HR pretends to care but is very political. Saw many situations where they turned their backs on bad behavior or told employees to deal with bad managers and to keep our 'mouth shut' when we questioned strategy decisions (that didn't make sense) If you want to learn eCommerce then join but you will learn bad management habits, inefficient processes, and political behaviors

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I agree that we do provide great benefits and have amazing talent at RGG. It is unfortunate that you are not currently happy with your experience. We do not condone bad behavior and certainly do not have a culture in which our associates can not express their opinions. I encourage you to reach out to me directly to share your thoughts on our business strategy and ways we can improve our processes. In terms of the health of our business - RGG is profitable, healthy and growing. As you are now, we share our financial results every quarter with our associates that clearly show this trajectory. Our goal is to provide a rewarding and engaging experience for all our associates. Please reach out to myself or anyone else on the Leadership team about how we can improve your experience.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are always focused on improving our advancement and growth opportunities. In 2019, 26% of our associates moved into new openings at Rue Gilt Groupe through promotions or pursuing different opportunities within the organization. We have a dedicated Senior Manager of Learning and Development who produces virtual trainings and onsite opportunities for associates in all locations to learn and develop throughout the year on a number of topical areas - anything from Excel skills to Management skills. We encourage associates to take advantage of these learning opportunities and support those who seek more responsibility and new opportunities.

I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time for less than a year

    Pros

RGG is the first place I've worked that I actually enjoy going to everyday. The people are great: they're hardworking, motivated, supportive and collaborative. All departments work with each other so you really get to know people from all across the company. The perks and benefits are great too (Summer Fridays, Bagel Fridays, strong health insurance, paid volunteer days, etc.). The leadership team is honest, transparent, and approachable, which I really appreciate based on my past work experience. There seems to be a lot of room for career development/growth, which is always a plus! Lastly, the company is passionate about their values and really centers everything around them.

    Cons

None so far as I'm fairly new!

I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible vacation time, smart and motivating coworkers, inspiring leaders and and accessible leadership team that are always open to hearing (and implementing) new associate ideas. RGG values their associates' talents and encourages internal mobility & promoting from within. Summer Fridays are also a nice treat!

    Cons

Having several offices can sometimes lead to some information getting lost in translation, or non 'headquartered' offices feeling left out. RGG can work to better incorporate all offices in decisions, events, and important meetings.

    Cons

Where do I begin? Even before Covid, it was like this. Tech got all the favoritism, perks and money. Then creative, then the rest of the office. Get paid badly for doing two jobs, and they reward you with more work but no more pay. In fighting within top management and terrible communication. Very privileged group of associates who loved to complain about little useless things. However, HR was the absolute worst. HR Business partners get caught making fun of how new employees look, and yes, in the open for all to hear, and end up getting promoted. Chief People Officer fat shames people, talks trash, also in the open for all to hear, about employees who are leaving the company for a better one, and is mean to pregnant women. Culture is something they think if they talk about it enough, it will just happen.

I’m sorry and surprised to hear that this was your experience at RGG. This is definitely not the culture we strive for and not representative of our company core values that we work hard to embody. Kind is one of our core values and I am saddened that you feel this wasn't exemplified. I am particularly concerned about the claims made about our People Team as this is the first time I am hearing about this type of complaint and would like to discuss specifics with you further. As a company, we do not accept favoritism or discrimination at any level and it is strictly against everything we stand for. As a working mother and someone who is proud and supportive of our working parents particularly our RGG mothers, your statement is very troubling. Please contact me directly so that I can better understand your claims and respond appropriately.
