Poor CEO, Poor Communication and Transparency

Pros

This is not a disgruntled employee review. This is a 100% honest review. There are some things you will want to consider, should you choose to work here. The health insurance coverage was pretty good and the flexible schedule and Unlimited PTO was great. They prioritize professional development, which is great. They cover the cost of certifications and training. The team is full of super knowledgeable thought leaders in the industry, but they are very underappreciated and overworked.

Cons

At the time of this review, there were no employee benefits like work from home stipend, they didn't cover the cost of equipment needed for day-to-day operations other than a laptop, and they also do not offer any kind of retirement benefits. I thought it was very strange that Excel was needed for my job, but I was not provided a paid license, so I was required to use the free version, which has limitations. There is a requirement of 30 hours of billable work per week, but there wasn't enough work to go around. There is no transparency from upper management about how the company is doing. They promote a "collaborative environment with an open door policy" but when concerns were brought up about current processes, the only answers were "We're looking into it" with no exact date on resolution OR "It doesn't matter if you agree, it's policy." As a company, we were told in multiple meetings that we were doing great financially, the CEO would constantly say "we're killing it." "We're very much beloved." and then out of nowhere, 20% of the company was laid off with no communication or clear reasoning as to why.

Unpaid Wages

Pros

Some of the employees were great. Those have all since left.

Cons

SaaScend has a California Court Judgement against them for unpaid employee wages....meaning they did not pay an employee wages owed to them and a court judgement was ruled against SaaScend. They have not paid this court judgement and the employee is still without those owed wages. Labor Commissioner State of California vs. SaaScend LLC Calfornia Case Number 34-2019-00269633-CL-EN-GDS

Terrible leadership

Pros

The team. They are some of the brightest and most talented group of RevOps professionals I've had the pleasure to work with.

Cons

The CEO is all talk. His attempt to do everything leads to his inability to execute on anything successfully, especially scaling the company. It's his way or the highway. Total lack of transparency from leadership, especially regarding cash flow. You're told one day that we're having a record breaking quarter, and then the next, 20% of staff are laid off. Payroll isn't 100% met. There have been employees who aren't paid at times, and quarterly bonuses are delayed. SaaScend's biggest asset are its people, but it's clear that the team is low priority leading to bad business decisions and no regard to overall employee wellness. The team is better off working at other organizations that will pay them what they're worth and truly value the skills they bring to the table.
