I worked at Speech Academy Asia full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've been working for 4 years and sadly I have to leave as I'm expecting. The bosses are 24/7. They are on call at anytime of the day and they seem to loved it when staff calls them for any help at all. They spend all their time in the business and probably have no time for personal or family which I feel is a downside. One positive change I saw over the 4 years when I'm there is that they are improving and adapting to be better managers and bosses. They are always implementing policies and systems during our management meetings to ensure we keep good staff. My shout out to boss Lukas whom I feel has never ever failed me in giving me a solution whenever I needed one.

    Cons

Multitasking and strict deadlines Priotise sales but I dont blame them as they are after all not a non profit organisation and want to pay well for their good staff

    Pros

Nice environment if you like children and noise.

    Cons

No proper work station . Bosses chases after sales and money everyday. Pay get delay most of time and depends when the bosses wants to do the transfer to your acc. Many bootlickers staffs to the bosses. Bosses not concern about product & service delivery, just interested to get the money in only. Bosses have trust issues with staffs. Not for the faint heart.

I have been working at Speech Academy Asia full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1) Management that is open to feedback When it comes to feedback, the management is always willing to listen to staff feedback and brainstorm on new ways to improve. 2) Helpful and Warm Colleagues Regardless of department and seniority, the current staff here are warm and always ready to help and solve problems together - It has truly been a joy working with them. 3) Opportunity to drive change and develop projects in your department Working closely with the management means that you have the chance to suggest new ideas and projects, which could grow your department and the organisation.

    Cons

    1) Fast-paced startup culture Changes often happen very quickly, which can be a bit of a culture shock to those who are used to more structured environments.

I have been working at Speech Academy Asia full-time

    Pros

The company has restructured over the past 1 year to hire and retain staff who are truly capable and do not play politics. It is not easy for us to deal with the backlash of the clean up because they post untrue reviews here after we have removed them. There is a positive feel in the air and we can now do what we are meant to do without the staff who go around playing politics. The founders have done right to remove those who are not contributing and are leeching the company.

    Cons

Due to the clean up, we have a lot of newbies who are highly driven but also not familiar with the jobscopes. Plenty of times training these new comers will take up time for the managers

I have been working at Speech Academy Asia part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have been training children and sometimes adult in this company for 3 years. Now with the covid lockdown, i wish to take time to appreciate what this company has done for me. 1) They care about our bellies! Free lunch on weekends, snacks, and even free breakfast at times. Fruits at pantry, Matcha tea powder! Oreo biscuits, disgestives biscuits! You name it, they have it. I have never worked for a training company that gives so much care to their trainers. 2) Empowering Curriculum: I used to teach tuition. Its rewarding but all I see myself do is drill knowledge without the students even understanding why are they even learning. It seems like an endless fight against the exam, which shouldn't be the basis of education. The curriculum here in this company is growth oriented. They believe in the potential of human growth, the need for emotional growth, to face fear, and to conquer their speech difficulties. This is something i do not see anywhere in Singapore except in this company. 3) Appreciative Parent I received hand made gifts, cookies, cards, and even a home made teddy bear by my students and their lovely parents. They see us trainers as god send angels, who are here to guide their shy kids into a place of confidence. Sometimes i feel guilty accepting these gifts as they cost alot. In tuition centers, I get presents too, but never at the level here.

    Cons

    1) The tablet chairs do get in the way of the students sometimes when we play fast paced activities. It would be better to have tables stashed at the back of the room and just regular chairs.

    "Please stay away."

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Speech Academy Asia full-time

    Pros

There are few benefits to working with the company unless you count a half-baked attempt at a pantry as one of them.

    Cons

Do you - 1: ENJOY wearing multiple different hats that differ from your assigned job scope? 2: LOVE getting micromanaged to the point where you need to tell your boss to back off? 3: WANT to get your pay delayed for up to months and you need to report to TADM or MOM in order to get paid? If you've answered yes to any of the above, then this job is for you. The company management only cares about profit and that's it. There's no room for employee growth, and the only supposed "welfare perks" only and will only go to those who can sell their ridiculously overpriced public speaking course. (Please go to Toastmasters instead for a better curriculum.) Your job title can be anything but ultimately, your job is there to just support the salespeople in pushing and pushing. It does not matter if you have other things on your plate! Your role is to just sell and sell. There is a distinct lack of job boundaries. As you can see from the way the management has tried to salvage their reputation by replying to these posts with "we are a rapidly growing company so there will certainly be random policy changes", they are not doing well. If you join this company, be assured that you will be working multiple roles but just getting paid for that 1 role with 0 appreciation at all for the things that you do. Steer clear of their classes if you can because the salespeople will use deception and lies to make parents buy into their classes and will reply "ok sure no problem" to every concern that you, as a customer have, and leave it like that. The subsequent complaints and angry parents are all borne by the front-line staff, while the bosses protect the salespeople and cackle behind your back and try to shirk all responsibilities. Policy changes aside, they are also very sketchy when it comes to payment and will definitely attempt to shortchange you. The onus is on you, the employee, to ensure that everything is paid correctly because the accounting department is a joke.
