Pros

The people. Some really cool people that work there. I would say the new office but there are a lot of cons to be said about that. Flexibility. - great if you just got a new pet? Had a baby or family.

Cons

In 2011 literally a week before Christmas they laid off a few staffers that been there a while. That's cold. If you are looking for process and procedure - you won't find it here. They couldn't even get a process in place to get their CMMI3. Recently combined two offices into this humongous office which you could cut in half and would still be too much room. They pretty much broke the bank getting this place and laid even more people off bc of their poor judgment. It's a new age office - open plan and everyone hates it - but they won't say it. One of the funniest things is when they decided to move to falls church they said it was because most people lived on that side of Virginia - and even showed a map with everyone's location in it - clearly showing most people lived in Sterling or beyond. Like we are blind. The company is trying to act like something they aren't. Nowhere close to Silicon Valley and they're a small fish in a big pond mad likes to show off their money pit. Management has become uppity and many of the staff don't understand why the move to such a huge and expensive place for such a small company. Recruiting is a nightmare because they tell you one thing one day and then turn around the next expecting something completely different without the same amount of timeframe. They used to do company events but hardly do it anymore and when they do it doesn't have the family feel it once had.

Pros

Small company is breaking out. They continue to grow the company smartly and are going after more work than ever. They are almost always the prime in their awards and they are winning more and more.

Cons

Continue to do more company meetings to enhance communication. Stay as involved as you are now. Continue to listen to experts in their respective fields.

A Company That's Like Family

Pros

I have honestly never worked with a better and more diverse group of individuals. Everyone has their strengths and are used to capacity. The management is wonderful and it makes you feel like a larger more extended family. They are very flexible when it comes to family/life balancing, caring and understanding. They give mid and end of the year reviews (which is something I have found rarely done in other companies I've worked for), and work with you to help obtain your personal goals. The company is doing well because it's literally doubled in size during the past year or two and word is it will keep growing - which is great news. There are many employees who have been there five years or more and this among other achievements are usually recognized on a yearly basis. My own experience, everyone has an open-door policy. They see their employees as an invested interest and want to see them succeed - so even when an employee could be going through a difficult time and it affects their work, they show care and understanding by getting involved (professional level of course) and working together to make sure that employee succeeds. It's a laid back atmosphere and I'd say most everyone has a great sense of humor and fun to work with and the company likes to do quarterly gatherings that bring everyone together - whether it's a summer picnic at a theme park or a corn maize during the fall, they are very family oriented and want all to succeed. You are able to get your feet wet in a variety of projects, if you so choose.

Cons

Sometimes roles change and you aren't made aware. Communication can always use some work but that's with any company - large or small. If you are the type of person that likes being told what to do or micromanaged, it's not the place for you. They want go-getters - people who create their own ideas and tasks and find a way going about it. It's a very busy company and there's not a lot of time to do hand-holding (the beginning is always the exception thought). Not a bad thing if you like to think outside the box and have creative freedom. Another thing, sometimes we grow so much we aren't introduced to everyone who joins, but it's been getting better with more formal introductions via email, quarterly newsletters, and employees escorting the new employee around the office and introducing them.
