Pros

None I have learnt that I do not want to work in a UN Agency, and opened my eyes about the faults of the UN system

Cons

I worked there as Intern for 6 months. I was there for learning and I did not learn anything, besides spending 8 hours per day there without getting paid. I was basically doing boring and authomatic tasks (like copy paste adresses) meant for people who were paid for it. The whole organization was really disorganized and during my time there I have developed many doubts about the fact that their job has any impact on the world (as the proclaim) apart from filling the pokets of those working there with a full position.

Pros

Salary. Prestige. Working for the UN is the dream come true...

Cons

UNIDO is a terrible place to work. Civil servants (30% of the staff) cannot get fired, regardless of what they do, and I have seen atrocities in the 4 years I've been here. The remaining 70% are consultants, and have literally no protection. This is the perfect environment for repeated abuse. Harassment is the norm: from abuse of authority, gaslighting, shouting, intimidation, discrimination based on nationality, corruption, and even sexual harassment... All with no consequences. Everybody is constantly applying for jobs elsewhere and leaving whenever they can. Hence, the extremely high turnover. Every week it is someone's farewell party. The turnover means the remaining employees have more work and have to train the newcomers. But money and prestige is good...
