    Mixed Bag

    Pros

    - Low stress/low risk, great for building confidence and competency in translation, great for people with social anxiety or health issues that might make more formal employment difficult - Pay is better than most crowd-sourced platforms

    Cons

    - Hard to earn stable income due to irregular workload and cash-out timeframes - Actual hourly rate is lower due to e.g. unpaid time spent reporting tasks provided in wrong language - Evaluation system is questionable

    Pros

    - Decent pay - No commitment - Very nice staff and community managers - Mostly quick payouts

    Cons

    - Mobile app needs some work (Editing sometimes buggy and inconvenient) - Webinterface sometimes buggy and outdated - Long support ticket response times - Depending on time of day and language pair, very little work available.

Bad evaluation provider, but besides that generally good

    Pros

I liked the flexibility. If you use it for a little bit of income on the side it is great. As it is very repetitive it gets boring fast, so I could not do more than two hours/day (personal feeling)

    Cons

    - It is not like a normal job, you have to concentrate 100% all the time. It is ok, you get only paid for actual work but in comparison to a regular job it can be a bit exhausting - the evaluation is done by a third party and is not very good. Instead, evaluators mark texts as a fault that are not a fault but a good translation. They seem to want to not only translate but to improve the original message. Also, there is no chance to get an evaluation overlooked. So if you're unlucky - like me - you get kicked out because you have a bad evaluator.

Great potential, but you can’t make a living as a freelancer

    Pros

Very friendly and collaborative staff No tight deadlines (in general every task has a fair deadline. Urgent tasks are possible too) Interesting jobs that allow you to expand your glossaries

    Cons

You can’t make a living or develop further skills/receive training by working with Unbabel as a freelancer. You never know how many task you will get (if any at all).
