Pros

1. Can't beat the pay at FT or PT. Accolade program offers hourly raises for your experience in training and out in the field! 2. Opportunities to advance within the company and travel around the country. 3. Really strong teamwork at certain levels. Everyone with my job from each office nationally kept in touch with each other and helped out by answering questions, providing support, etc. 4. If they aren't understaffed (which they haven't been for a while) you have a lot of flexibility, both as a FT and PT employee. Just give your notice and don't screw people over at the last second!! That's one of the main causes of office drama and no one wants that.

Cons

1. KNOXVILLE management has been a doozy. There's a long tradition of hiring sketchy and incompetent managers; the latest is the latter. Multiple employees have compared him to Michael Scott from The Office. Funny on TV, not so funny in real life. 2. Communication is HARD. Manager will dodge questions via phone call, email, and text. And you have to ambush him to get him to talk to you in the office. Meanwhile, you'll be blown up with phone calls, emails, and texts if you forget to vacuum your van one night. Don't even get me started on what it takes to get in touch with HR or someone else when you have a real issue. 3. The days can be long, but if you want hours and experience, you can use this to your advantage. You'll be tired after a weekend on the rigs, and some people can't take it. It is physically demanding as well. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it's one of the biggest reasons people might quit after their first few shifts. 4. There's drama, like everywhere, but if you choose not to be a part of it then it won't affect you. It's that simple.

Unprofessional / Immature Management

Pros

Wonderful staff. Great mission and business model.

Cons

SOME of the key players in management / upper management are very unprofessional and immature. The use of vulgar language runs rampant in this organization. Employees tend to be treated disrespectfully by certain members of the management team. They can get away with this because a majority of the staff are young and are early in their career, and don't have anything to use as a comparison. The mantra in this company is "fear of being fired", causing paranoia by many of the employees. This can / is a very stressful place to work. There are some really nice people who genuinely care about the welfare of animals, but don't let that fool you. Money is the real motivator behind this business, and animal health tends to take the back seat by those who call the shots.

Pros

Puppies and kittens! Great coworkers. Kittens and puppies! Earning accolades raises pay rate. Puppies and kittens! Doctors are awesome. Kittens and puppies! One free lunch a month.

Cons

Micromanagement is king. Weak bonus structure. High turn over rate. Always short staffed. Say good bye to your weekends. Accolades are not recognized by any other employers, Part time employment requires full time commitment.
