Pros

Great place to start a career in healthcare finance. You will be trained well and learn about the industry from several different vantage points

Cons

I agree with the other review: "Not much opportunity past the Director level. Experience and skill set obtained at VMG can be leveraged into significantly higher compensation at a lateral position with other firms in market. Being on 2nd PE sponsor, majority of Sr. leadership have lost touch with company culture." - Low pay compared to similar roles in the industry - Company is expanding and now has 'locations' at several spots around the country. Almost zero interaction with other divisions/locations - Senior management is pretty much on another planet and you will have zero interaction - Used to have a good culture but with expansion, management sees employees now as only FTE plugs. - Company tries to stress 'culture' with a familial feel........but its a veneer. - Your personal experience at the company is fully dependent on team you're on and direct boss.........most good leaders/coworkers leave the company after 3-4 years for higher paying roles elsewhere - Emphasis much more on production and squeezing every dollar possible than in past years......to the point where its hurting employee morale and culture.

Good But Can Be Special

Pros

VMG has a strong culture and is the main focal point of the hiring process. It varies by team, but most people tend to be outgoing and social. There are ample opportunities for junior staff to contribute to the company.

Cons

Compensation. It is known VMG pays below market, anywhere between 10-25% less than the industry norm. Management has been conducting a market study on compensation but there have been no results thus far. Also, while there are opportunities for junior staff to contribute thought leadership work, there is little-to-no incentive to join these groups, as salary bands are narrow and less involved analyst class members are oftentimes paid equal to those heavily involved. The most common complaint of former employees is compensation not scaling, and they left VMG for a higher paying role despite everything else being exceptional.

Pros

Experience, thats it- the cons far outweigh the pros unfortunately Everyone who says its a good starting place is right AS LONG AS you have a decent manager, if you dont youre screwed

Cons

Culture is nonexistent or cliques- LOTS of gossiping and favortism; they still talk about culture as being a thing but it isn’t Little to no pay increases or bonuses- bonus for 2024 was laughable across the firm for anyone who wasnt senior leadership Extremely toxic executive leadership, almost everyone is friends or got hired by friends- might change with new CEO but unlikely since these people have been there for 20ish years Not a thriving environment for minorities or women, despite what they may say No leadership training or focus on good management practices- ppl promoted due to favoritism often HR is untrustworthy and will stab you in the back; barely even is an HR dept honestly, there is no process for submitting harrassment or abuse claims and they are friends/close to the leadership so doesn’t matter anyways Lots of division changes and policy shifts- the vibe is chaotic at all times, nothing ever feels stable ever PE owned so really at the mercy of whoever is owning the company Growth opps are waved in your face as potential but not real most of the time
