A great place to develop and perfect sales skills
18 Nov 2011 - Sales Representative in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Yodle has a great emphasis on developing reps sales skills to give them the foundation to succeed at the company and after they have moved on. Everyday is a learning opportunity to get better at the job and develop long term abilities to take throughout your career. This is a great place to build sales experience. The main focus of this job is selling. Accounts are managed by a customer service team, allowing the reps to come in every day and try and close deals. There is a great energy to the sales force within the company creating an enjoyable place to come in to every morning. There is always a chance to get promoted and everyone is judged on the same criteria. Any rep can get promoted by hitting the next levels monthly goals. In under a year I am getting my first shot at the trade show circuit. The company is growing so fast that new positions are always available.
Cons
This is not an easy job. Most of the day is spent cold calling and it can turn in to long hours. No one here is to make the base salary. If you want to be successful you have to work hard and be prepared to come in with a good attitude every day. There can be a lot of pressure if you are behind on your numbers.

Yodle for Brand Networks - Customer Success Team
29 Jun 2016 - Customer Success DirectorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Awesome co-workers, good office morale, promotions generally within 2 years, competitive pay after being there a few years, quarterly bonuses, fun/vibrant office environment with occasional snacks/pancake breakfasts/charity lunches, great place to get your foot in the door in digital marketing.
Cons
The Yodle product lags in innovation and the sales team is often selling false promises of a product that is going to do this or that, when may be years before some aspects of the product go live. The Customer Success team is responsible for resetting client expectations, while the sales team continues to sell something that doesn't quite exist. Focus on YBN is constantly pivoting from one internal product to the next. I think this has caused many members of the product team to leave over time. Timelines for new products are often very behind schedule. Top level manangement (those in NY) don't really seem to care about many employees, ie work-load, bonuses, raises. Yodle was recently acquired by Web.com - not necessarily a con, but the company will change.

Pros
Depending on your department and position, Yodle can be very easy money. But, that is not so much the case anymore. Everyone is overworked and underpaid. Add to that incompetent and out-of-touch VPs and managers, and this place is truly awful. However, if you have 0 experience, Yodle is a great place to learn the basics. It's a launching pad - stay for a year and then move on for more pay.
Cons
Incompetent , young, people-pleasing managers who are out-of-touch and lack prospective and backbone. Many of them have been at Yodle their entire adult life and are thoroughly brainwashed. On top of that, they have hired VP talent from large companies that have 0 experience/expertise in search and do not understand the space. They end up exacerbating existing issues.

A great place to begin your sales career
9 Jul 2014 - Sales Representative in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you have very little to no sales experience, Yodle is a great place to learn what sales is about. Everything is scripted. The trainers are very knowledgeable.
Cons
One of the primary reasons I chose Yodle was because of the culture and fun environment. I saw a lot of employees that generated a lot of revenue for the company get fired for petty things, like tardiness. Its a game of politics and you have to be a "yes" man to survive. If they don't see you performing, they will let you weed yourself out. You have got to be extremely hungry to make it in this company. I also saw a lot of employees try to reach management positions and grow with the company, hit a lot of closed doors and short ceilings. The start-up feel is lost. Yodle has become this big company that has lost sight of the value of employees, the culture mimics that of a sweat shop, and they are out sourcing to St. Lucia to make even more money. You will be micromanage and the free food, is not worth eating. It's terrible.

Great place to work and grow professionally!
26 Jan 2010 - National Account Director in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
On a day to day basis you are surrounded by people that encourage professional development and not only is your professional growth encouraged, it is also facilitated by management. Aside from a career in an increasingly relevant industry , you are also putting yourself in a position to make a lot money. The culture, growth, and real opportunity to make a huge paycheck each month make Yodle a great place for motivated people looking to take the next step professionally.
Cons
I would not say that there are significant downsides. However, if you are someone that is dependent upon others in order to hit goals and perform at a high level, I would not recommended Yodle to you. A strong work ethic is absolutely essential in order to achieve success.

Local Sales Rep Review
18 Oct 2014 - Sales Representative in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is a great place to work if you can sell by phone. The culture is amazing fun for a call center. Tons of contest, free lunch (The food at the Austin location just became amazing. They fired the crappy chef and have hired a professional chef that runs restaurants in town -- Chef Parind Vora.), free Friday happy hour, recognition, 6 figure income, and Presidents Club trip to all inclusive resort for top-top producers.
Cons
It is still a call center. You are still grinding the phones day in and out. You are only as good as your performance last month. No 401k match. Stock options are given very sparingly.

Search Marketing Consultant: Don't believe the hype
29 Sept 2014 - Search Marketing Consultant in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great company culture- young, smart people hungry for success. Fun perks like free snacks and company outings, and a fun work environment. Training is very robust, and coworkers are eager to help new employees get on board. Great place to get your foot in the door in digital marketing (but not if your too experienced). My managers were really supportive and great career coaches.
Cons
While management preaches a mission that is built around honesty, work ethic and putting the client first- they only really care about making money at the client's expense. The main product we sell- an SEM bidding algorithm- doesn't perform for the majority of our clients, mainly because we accept tiny budgets and niche businesses that paid search simply isn't right for. Therefore if you are client facing role, be prepared to be cursed out on a daily basis from angry business owners wanting their money back. You end up feeling like a scam artist conning people out of their money instead of a marketing professional, and if you bring up any suggestions on how to make the structure better to actually help our clients, you are reprimanded for being "negative" or ignored. My team saw a 15 person turn over within one calender year...TWICE. You'll be pressured to work holidays like Thanksgiving, and forget about having a manageable work load. You'll be slammed with 200+ screaming angry clients you're forced to speak to regularly. Despite pulling from top tier universities, search consultant roll is basically a call center, where you are forced to read off scripts or get reprimanded. They don't want you to use your brain, just parrot the same script over and over again until the client cancels. If considering a client facing role at Yodle, get ready to be miserable and acquire a drinking habit.

You can put lipstick on a pig......
29 Feb 2016 - Cold Calling Extraordinaire in Scottsdale, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It is certainly a great place to get some experience in phone sales. I have learned a lot of new skills that will carry over to a new job soon....... Oh, and free coffee and snacks.
Cons
Cold calling is the WORST !!! Business owners HATE getting sales calls and will either hang up on you or yell at you about how much they hate sales calls. Your success is also very dependent on which segment aka profession you're calling into. Only take this job as an absolute last resort.

Stop the endless rallies, meetings and dumb mandatory meetings.
21 Mar 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great place to work when you actually get to work.
Cons
Too much time spent on attending Town Hall, Bi-Monthly, Trimester, Quarterly, Cheer leading for nothing meetings. We are understaffed and being drug away from WORK to watch this boring junk, then getting back to a HUGE BACKLOG of work -it's insane.
