Covington DC vs. Cooley DC for a lateral M&A associate?

Have any other firms moved to match Milbank yet?
Why would a v5 firm take down a new lateral’s profile after a week? Website shows “lawyer no longer at the firm.”
When do we expect market firms to match the Milbank raises? I assume mine will but haven’t heard anything yet. And I’m losing one omakase meal per pay period…
How do you handle a situation where a partner simply doesn’t respond to you? I sent them drafts to review, followed up multiple times, and tried calling, but I haven’t heard back. They also don’t go into the office, so I can’t just stop by. There isn’t a hard deadline, but from a client service perspective, we should have sent these documents already. The client has followed up, and I gave a general “we’re finalizing” response, but I expect another follow-up soon. Any advice on how to handle?
Just me, or is this crop of summers especially bad?
Neither
As a former Cov M&A associate with spouse at Cooley, good thing about Cov is the hours are not as crazy as Cooley. However, DC office social culture is pretty awkward. Also, Cov you won’t get any basic paralegal support. If you are junior level, you will have to handle both paralegal and associate work.
Where are you now? Greener pastures?
