Gen Z, is it true or exaggeration? https://fortune.com/2026/06/04/gen-z-more-disconnected-distrustful-of-coworkers-than-older-colleagues-so-lonely-taking-off-work
I was just terminated from the deals group. I’ve let myself go in terms of my health and weight. I figured I’d use a good chunk of the severance time to get in shape over the summer and focus on my health but my friends and family are pushing me to find a way to juggle both and call me crazy for taking my time. My plan is to build a morning routine of fitness and work that into my new schedule when I’m rehired. Any thoughts ?
List of the worst of the worst people, those unfit for society: - Those who recline their seats on airplanes - Those who don’t return their grocery carts - Those who listen to audio on speaker on public transport Am I missing anyone?
The key to being promoted (beyond capability) is to be likeable. To be likeable, you need to be relatable. To be relatable, you need to have a wide range of hobbies and interests and appeal to familiarity - eg have kids, watch sports, play golf, etc.
Didn’t get promoted and thinking of leaving Deloitte for the next level at Guidehouse. It’s a title bump so I would get a raise, but I’m trying to weigh the opportunity cost of going to a “lower tier” firm known for more niche services. Has anyone else been in this situation and what did you choose? Would this limit my exit opps?
Just saw a post from Fortune Magazkne that Gen Z is getting fired because they don’t have good communication skills (how to run a meeting, how to write a formal email etc.), don’t show initiative (ask questions, volunteer for projects) and don’t maintain professionalism (show up on time, miss deadlines etc.). Sounds like the boomers are getting grumpy, but as a millennial, this doesn’t surprise me. Curious if anyone thinks work culture will eventually adjust or if you’re seeing this.
Lord, everything is an ad for AI now. And you think why newer generation is distrustful. These articles sickens me “The Workday executive recommends using AI to remove friction from everyday work life, while being careful not to stifle office relationships. And by freeing up more time from those tech efficiencies, employers have a window to thoughtfully strengthen relational skills among their staffers.”- from this article about loneliness.
Oh lordy lordy
Not Gen-Z myself, but bashing them is getting ridiculous. They’re being treated significantly worse at the workplace than previous generations, and most of them will never be able to save up to buy a decent sized home in the cities they work in without parental help or a windfall. Boomers wouldn’t have gotten out of bed if they were given the same working conditions as the younger generations today. Oh and as the person above me said, this is just a cynical advertisement for an AI company (and a really bad one at such. Workday sucks, you’re better off hiring actual people than relying on them).
The article actually supports Gen Z and it brings up the point that they are being treated differently than us.
