What’s the difference between Program Manager and Business Operations Manager roles?
People being let go bc of comparing performance against peers is bs. upgrading the team? how come other rigorous fields (investment banking, medicine, Big Law, oil & gas engineering, trading firms, etc) don’t feel the need to do this, yet they have the right people the teams need every year 😂 consulting isn’t the most rigorous/difficult/or prestigious career. just say it’s for the greed of the firm, at the cost of unempathetically uprooting employees lives & at least you’ll be honest.
What was your salary progression after college and what do you think got you to your success?
At 5 YOE and 190 base and feel underpaid. How underpaid am I? What comp could I get if I jumped to another firm? Assume only jump that would be a step up is some T2 and above
I like my job alot. I work with smart people. I have a ton of flexibility. All in (salary, bonus, equity) I make $300k mcol. It's kind of a dead end, I'm not gonna make partner and it's PE backed so I could lose my job at any time. At some point I'll probably be laid off because that just seems to be the new reality. I struggle with looking for a new role because I like my role. But also I feel lazy just chilling. Sanity check if I should try to jump and get back on the escalator or enjoy it?
Didn’t get promoted and thinking of leaving Deloitte for the next level at Guidehouse. It’s a title bump so I would get a raise, but I’m trying to weigh the opportunity cost of going to a “lower tier” firm known for more niche services. Has anyone else been in this situation and what did you choose? Would this limit my exit opps?
PgM is multiple project management and that is the core focus of the role: to make sure things happen. While a BizOps manager would be in charge of seeing certain strategic initiatives through to execution, the focus is more on the strategic part rather than the project management part. PgM is glorified PMO whereas BizOps M is more like strategy/ops consulting

Unfortunately, to complicate things a bit, a Program Manager may just be a title, similar to Manager in consulting. My BizOps team title progression is Business Analyst > Program Manager. I’d do a bit more digging on the role description and team itself before coming to any conclusions.
Technically some differences is project management (whip cracking) vs analysis. In practice have a lot of overlap depending on the firm/team.
