How do we go about doing small group work or pairwork?
I'm showing a movie this week. I gave the class a "trailer" last week and they seemed into it. I hit play today and about 1/3 of them checked out. I'm at a total loss. When did kids stop liking movie day??
Why is it so frowned upon when you hold IEP students accountable? My campus seems to love to enable lazy IEP kids. There’s always an excuse as to why they can’t or don’t need to do things. So of course, when I hold mine accountable and hold them to the same expectations are my regular students, I’m the bad guy. Anyone else notice this too?
Now that I'm home for the summer, I've been confronted with the exciting yet overwhelming prospect of completing a massive to-do list of home improvement projects. Now that I finally have some spare time, I'm struggling with what I want to accomplish first! Anyone else have this problem?
We’re passing kids who don’t come to school and can’t read. This is 140 students that are in 8th grade. 5% I’ve never met. 10% I’ve met met a few times, they come to school, do some drugs, sell some drugs, go to alternative. 30% are not even literate. 70% are not at grade level. 100% graduating How is this happening?
My principal is trying to assign me with extra tasks on the last week of school. I'm honestly super busy with closing everything out for the year but I have a hard time saying no. What's a good way to go about saying no?
Zoom breakout rooms
6 feet apart working on google docs or something else online that will instantly update as students work. They can still talk to each other!
We use Google Meet and they are supposed to come out with breakout rooms in October.
There is a Google Meet Breakout room extension already. It’s kit created by Google, but it has lots of great components. You do need to learn it before you try to use it. https://www.hudektech.com/projects/breakout
Microsoft Teams also has breakout rooms.
