I feel like the process is misleading by offering you a pay-rate after the initial interview even though you have to pass the mock classes to actually be offered a job. There were inconsistencies between current teacher and mentors. For example, one person said they never said the title of the lesson, when I didn't it was a mark against me; one mentor said "letter names" the other "letter sounds"; Do have the student repeat your name, don't; etc. Also, I feel like certain aspects were held against me, but these modifications would have cost me more money and I hadn't been offered the job. For example, my internet connection was lacking. I paid $35 to have my jack moved so I could plug in. It was still lacking in my mock 2 but my only other option would be to increase my speed, which would cost me $10/month. Why would I do this if i wasn't getting the job? Plus, we've had storms all over the area but this wasn't taken into consideration. I already spent more than I would make if I had passes the mock process. This was one reason listed for why I didn't pass mock 2, even though I explained the the situation. Also, my back ground was mentioned as reason because it wasn't kid-friendly. This is due to the same reason. I had a different background for my mock 1 which was good, but I had to change everything due to my jack being moved and didn't have the time, nor did I want to spend more money at that point to correct it if I wasn't going to be offered the job. I believe in preparing yourself as if you already have the job, but I can't spend a fortune to do so. It all good and well to SAY you don't expect money to be spent, but then those components of the interview shouldn't be marks against you.
