Interviewer asked me to visualize their new app home page over the phone, so no way to visualize. Then asked to evaluate the effect on the business.

I'm a PhD trained economist. I asked who the stakeholder was and what they wouldn't to use to measure success. Silence. So I made my own metrics. Typically A/B test question, but more difficult because of test-control interference. Answered it perfectly, because I'm trained to do this, only struggle was in trying to visual the stupid app over a phone call. Rejected immediately. A company running a marketplace business with 0 economists is an absolute joke. You can't have undergraduate machine learning hacks teasing out dynamic market place effects and expect to succeed. Especially when their biggest competitor in Amazon employs over 200 economist. BAY AREA TECH COMPANIES, STOP INTERVIEWING LIKE THIS. IF YOU WANT TO REALLY LEARN HOW TALENTED SOMEONE IS, DIVE DEEP INTO THEIR PROJECTS AND HAVE THEM PRESENT IT. NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS FROM READING ONLINE OR GETTING A POORLY READ STATEMENT OVER THE PHONE. AND LEARN WHAT AN ECONOMIST DOES, THEY ARE MORE TRAINED THAN DATA SCIENTISTS TO HANDLE MARKET PLACE QUESTIONS IN DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENTS
