MercFuel Snapshot
After an attempt to spread its wings, MercFuel, the fuel sales and service division of Mercury Air Group, has flown back to its parent's nest. MercFuel engages in the contract sale of aviation fuel, primarily to airlines and airfreight companies. It also sells more than 275 million gallons of aviation fuel a year to major corporate aircraft operators through a network of more than 1,400 third-party suppliers worldwide. MercFuel is leveraging its parent's global coverage and market position to provide 24-hour coordinated fuel supply and international delivery. Mercury Air Group planned to spin off MercFuel but later withdrew the offering. MercFuel lost two major fuel contracts in 2006.
