Tower Properties owns, develops, leases, and operates commercial real estate in the Midwest, specifically in Kansas' Johnson County and Missouri's Clay, St. Louis, and Jackson counties. It owns nearly 1.3 million sq. ft. of space, including mixed-use office and industrial space, parking garages, a warehouse, and a handful of apartment communities. The company has built more than 1.5 million sq. ft. of space in downtown Kansas City. Initially a Commerce Bancshares subsidiary, Tower Properties was spun off as a separate company in 1971. Chairman James Kemper and his family own some 38% of the company.
