Who gives a hoot? About 27,000 "owls" enrolled at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) do. The Southeast Florida university offers more than 140 degree programs in academic fields including architecture, liberal arts, education, nursing, science, and engineering. It has about a half-dozen locations in Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie, Dania Beach, Jupiter, Fort Pierce, and Davie. FAU was established in 1964 as an institution solely serving upper-division and graduate students; it allowed its first freshman class 20 years later.
