Rusty Snapshot
A well known label in the surf world for the past 30 years, Rusty manufactures a line of surfboards, as well as surf apparel for men and women. The company's product offerings are sold through specialty retailers nationwide. Rusty is named after founder and surfer Rusty Preisendorfer, who grew up surfing in the San Diego area and began shaping boards in the early 1970s. Preisendorfer sold his majority stake in the Rusty business and the rights to the Rusty brand name in 2007 to Vegas Enterprises, which had made Rusty brand apparel under license in Australia. As part of the deal, Preisendorfer retained rights to manufacture Rusty surfboards.
