Pros

Operations team is great, sales team is great, really dynamic, interesting, and self driven environment for project managers. I would go back in a heartbeat if they paid better.

Cons

Pay: I estimate pay is about 60% of industry/role average. Went to work here because of how interested I was in the industry, ran simultaneous multi million dollar projects in different states paid like an entry level coordinator, yearly bonus is a $50 or $100 gift card. Got a new job and literally doubled my salary. Travel: Company assigns you to a region (intended to be within 200 miles from home) and that’s where you’re supposed to operate. I did most of my jobs between 400 and 600 miles from home. Expectation to run projects while traveling, follow up on other projects, and drive a couple hundred miles a day. Worked about 18 hours a day while on the road to keep up. Surprise assignment to 3 month long projects out of state with 24 hours notice. Top level management issues: Senior executive openly criticized me and wrongly corrected me via a team-wide email with project team in CC because they didn’t understand a project workscope. Silly non-compete agreement: Condition of employment to sign a non-compete for all levels. Understandable to industry transferable roles, but unethical and maybe illegal (?) for tradesmen that work as riggers.
