Pros
Though there were too many cons to the job, it could be really rewarding. The commission structure was extremely good and fair and at times really paid off. My issue is with the staff, and upper management, though my own manager was one of the best.
Cons
I gave a lot for very little.
It was a very stressful environment to work in. One matter that stood out the most was our customer feedback surveys and how much they mattered. You have to get everyone on sleep match and if you don't, you don't meet expectations for the month. Upper management don't take into consideration guest beds, quick in and out buyers, people who know what they want and the elderly who don't believe in that technology. You are told to ask people to say yes, but you can't guarantee that they will fib for you.
On the topic of meeting targets, some weeks were slow and sometimes it was luck of the draw, based on turns and who walks in the door. Sometimes I'd be stuck with time-wasting customers for a few hours to not make a sale, while other staff are hitting the jackpot.
Where I worked the team was cliquey and it felt like being back in school again. Colleagues weren't overly supportive, but quick to judgement. Those same colleagues are happy to take your comebacks and hog the floor, depriving you of equal opportunities.
