I had only been with JMC for a week when my Grandmother passed away. They were advised upon the interview that the potential to lose her was there. They were fully aware of it. She passed on a Friday. I took that day off. Funeral was Tuesday. I took that day off. I was terminated Wednesday. They stated the reason was that I didnt use "proper call off method". The manager was told via text that my mother had tried to kill herself due to my grandmother's death and I couldnt call her only text because we were in a locked down unit for suicide watch and I couldnt just come and go to call her. To them that was insufficient so I was terminated. When I went in to pick up my things, I did not got any kind of condolence, not 'how are you holding up", is your mother ok...NOTHING.. Just a thanks for returning the badge. Not even a goodbye. SERIOUSLY.
