Pros
There are some really good people at Liquibase that are doing an amazing job and there is a lot of opportunity to make a difference. I loved my colleagues and peers and wish them the very best! Unfortunately, many of the good ones are already looking for opportunities outside the company, so they may not stick around, which is unfortunate. All of my colleagues were super nice (the trauma bonding is real), including HR. I know another reviewer spoke negatively about HR, but I honestly LOVED everyone in HR. Everyone in HR was lovely and genuinely seemed like they were trying their best.
Cons
Filter the reviews here on Glassdoor by most recent. You'll see a high percentage of recent reviews that are negative. From what I witnessed at Liquibase, most everything in those reviews is accurate. Perhaps in the past, Liquibase used to be a good place to work, but right now it's very toxic. Be prepared to watch many of your coworkers get fired for no reason, while everyone else is constantly on edge wondering if they're next. When the day finally comes when you're fired with no warning, you'll just feel relief to finally be free of the mess. Unfortunately, while Patti (CEO) is aware of some very problematic/toxic leaders, she has not done much to curb their behavior or get rid of them. I don't think she's malevolent, but I also don't think she's the strongest leader (she can have a fragile ego and a temper at times, which can make it hard to challenge her sometimes). Let me be clear: not everyone at Liquibase is a jerk, but there are some very prominent leaders at Liquibase who are MDPs (Most Destructive Persons -- the opposite of MVPs). The company culture of "No punks, no jerks" does not seem to apply. Turnover is a HUGE issue. People are hired and fired constantly. I think this is because certain leadership essentially uses underlings as scapegoats and blames them for not achieving goals, fires them, hires someone new... rinse and repeat. Transparency is also a huge issue. One of the MDP leaders lied to me repeatedly, and I'm sure lies to everyone (including Patti, so it may be hard for her to see the truth). Now that I'm thinking about it, there are probably way more lies than I realized. Essentially, this particular MDP leader would always try to play middle-man between different folks and would intentionally misrepresent what folks said. An example being, MDP told me that Coworker A said they "loved XYZ idea (MDP's idea)." A later conversation directly with Coworker A, and Coworker A told me they "hated XYZ idea." I'm not sure how much more blatant of a lie you can get than that. It happened repeatedly. The last thing to consider is that Liquibase has been a relatively small startup for a LONG time. I honestly believe they have great technology and the potential to do amazing things, but weak/problematic leadership and lack of strategic vision are holding them back. There are some good folks in leadership, and they tend to be the ones with a lot of relevant past experience. I also know that Patti had the opportunity to hear feedback from me directly, but opted not engage. I'm sure someone will copy-paste her response to this review at some point, but it's honestly rather hollow at this point.
