Pros
World Services has been a great place to work at, mainly due to the people who are incredibly intelligent and humble. The projects are also fascinating and you wouldn't find this type of work anywhere else. People come from all backgrounds which adds to the diversity of the agency/team, however this is probably a given considering the name of the agency.
Cons
World Services has changed a lot in the time I worked there. It grew from being a small and flexible agency to a more corporate and rigid environment. Work/life balance was once strongly encouraged at the agency, but since COVID-19 this has become an afterthought with many working outside of office hours on a regular basis to the point where it has become expected/the norm. Favouritism is also a noticeable issue within the agency, with a select few being offered regular promotions and the flexibility to work on different projects, ensuring their continued progress. Others are often stuck on the same project due to a lack of investment in the team/project or due to specific language requirements. This leaves them less of a chance to progress professionally. The agency also lacks transparency regarding career progression, despite some employees having personal objective plans. There are contradictory rules on what it takes to be promoted, showing a clear lack of structure at the senior level.
