Pros

-Learned industry basics -Relatively good benefits for a small company -Yearly cultural retreat -Good range of clients -Cool office

Cons

Matt Cheuvront, The Owner: -In my opinion, had very poor leadership and communication skills. -In my opinion, was very passive-aggressive. -Seemed to chastise employees for small, one-off mistakes. -Spoke poorly of past employees, which I now see as a huge red flag. -Had a reputation in small communities around Nashville with past employees / clients / acquaintances. -Seemed to have a very strange complex that manifested itself in various unbecoming forms. -In my opinion, people skills were minimal. Other Cons: -Work-life balance was completely non-existent. -Slack communication was constant. Expect messages at 10pm, cutting into personal life at home. -Scope became an issue at times but often went unaddressed. -Pay seemed low according to industry standards, but that’s typical of a small agency. Advice To Anyone Thinking About Joining: -DO contact a previous employee before accepting a job here. I’d be willing to wager that any previous employee will do. -DO look into the turnover rate at the agency. Just do a quick LinkedIn search for people who have worked there, and see for how long. -DO weigh the pros / cons at your current place of employment before taking a risk on Proof.

Pros

Ive been in this field for years and now working at Proof I feel like I’ve finally made something out of this craft. I get to work on really cool and diverse projects and do work for clients that I wouldn’t have ever had the opportunity to before. The best part is the team I work with, I’ve worked in very corporate settings for the majority of my career and now working at proof work feels fun. One of the benefits is the remote days but truly I prefer going into the office because I enjoy the company of the people I spend my day working with. We work hard and play hard. We have a good time and still hit every deadline and that is really rewarding to me. The internal culture is very much what you see is what you get and I have felt accepted and valued since I’ve joined the team. Can’t stress enough that the small tight knit crew I work with is awesome and most days it doesn’t feel like work.

Cons

A lot of us are new in our roles and still learning how to best work together and be most effect. Growing pains honestly!

Pros

Clients offer a thrilling and diverse range of projects, making it an excellent portfolio builder with a variety of niche opportunities. The development team is top-notch.

Cons

Team members are unwelcoming and leadership is passive-aggressive or uninvolved. Designers feel like cogs in the machine with invalid ideas. The company offers no additional perks. The CEO experienced early success and now supports unrealistic workloads and promotes false flexibility while living at the bar next door.

We are sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience at Proof. A full review of our company benefits including 100% paid health insurance, 401k matching, generous PTO, and remote flexibility, along with a transparent outline of company culture can be found in our Playbook on our website. Given our entire staff has been tenured between 3-10 years, and the timestamp of this review, there have been no former graphic designers within the last several years who have worked here for 1+ year and been terminated, and none that have exited voluntarily. The validity of this “review” is in question. We wish you the best of luck moving forward!
