Twistory Entertainment Studios

Is this your company?

Apparent vanity project belonging to whomever is fronting the bill for this joke of a start up. - Anonymous employee Twistory Entertainment Studios Employee Review

Pros

Staffed with incredibly talented and bright young artists, designers, programmers and other below the line workers, they pay in a timely manner, the kitchen is stocked with snacks and food (albeit all incredibly unhealthy - high sugar, carbs and sodium), very agreeable working hours

Cons

Incompetent and manipulative leadership at the top level - con artists in this reviewer's opinion, Incredibly high stress environment hidden behind a false self-described start up image, absolutely no direction from the company leaders, poorly conceived and developed IPs that have no chance of either financial or critical success, tacky office space and awful parking.

Pros

Dude, this place #%$%ing shreds. Everyone here is insanely talented. The guys on top are approachable and really down to earth. The projects are really awesome and definitely have the ability to turn heads. There are people from all walks of life that bring really neat stuff to the table. You will have your time to shine and be known for your work.

Cons

Parking is a total drag, but honestly there isn't really anything the studio can do about it. At times, it seems as though we're competing against one and other with our work, but it's pretty healthy for the most part.

Pros

Upon starting here, I was immediately drawn to the energy, and potential of the in-house projects, and the reception of employee input. - Great starting gig for graduates, and interns. - Decent challenges for experienced, and senior staff. - Talented artists, and engineers. - Clean environment, with focus on showing off creativity. - Laid back work ethic. - Monthly video game tournaments.

Cons

When the honeymoon phase ended, the company's glaring lack of direction became apparent, and increased throughout my time as an employee. I was part of the staff laid off due to a crippling downsize. While I'm not bitter, I am flatly disappointed. None of the studio heads have a solid game-industry background, leading to hasty development plans with no clear goal in sight. Their "flagship" title was a financial failure by any measure when I started, yet they continued to pour immeasurable amounts of time, energy, and money despite abysmal returns. I thought the studio heads had lost their minds when they decided to pour a truckload of funds into live action segments of said IP with no clear ROI in sight. Too many rods in the fire, not enough staff, or experience to execute properly. One week the company is focusing on a mobile game, the next it's a proprietary tequila brand, or a line of clothing with no target demographic in mind. This happened repeatedly. Lots of pep talks, but no real changes. Misuse of the entire staff's abilities and potential.
