Pros

Nothing good to say about the company or the CEO.

Cons

The CEO, Nancy Brown, does not honor her contracts with her contractors. Upon submitting for payment, you do not get paid. Beware as both a contractor and someone looking for a Virtual Assistant.

Thank you for leaving your review. We want all our VA's, current and former, to feel great about the experience they have had working with us. It is unfortunate your opinion is so low.

Pros

Many many pros, but only if you are suited to this type of work. This job is flexible and EASY to get started. Great training materials, and great managers. Everyone wants you to succeed, and will check in on you. Great coworkers and clients. This job is minimum wage BUT you are able to work from home and do other things while waiting for work to come in! It is the perfect job for the working mother or homebody who enjoys computer and assistant work.

Cons

The ONLY con is how slow it is to start out. These clients are important so VGF mgmt wants to make sure you are trained and ready to handle their patients. Which is totally understandable. People seem to think it's a con that you only get paid "when you work", but that is a pro. You can have 10 clients if you want and work 40 hours a week.. OR you can have 2 clients and work 10 hours a week and also do other things with your days. There are NO CONS if you actually understand what a contract based job is.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and thoughtful feedback. We appreciate your perspective and are grateful that you've taken the time to highlight the flexibility, training resources, support, and opportunities available through Virtual Gal Friday. One of our goals is to create opportunities for independent contractors who value flexibility, remote work, and the ability to build a schedule that fits their individual needs. As you mentioned, our contractor model is not a one-size-fits-all environment, and success often comes from understanding how contract-based work operates and taking advantage of the opportunities available. We are especially pleased to hear that you have felt supported by our team, managers, and fellow contractors. We work hard to provide training, resources, and guidance so that contractors can grow their skills and confidently support our clients. Thank you for being part of the Virtual Gal Friday community. We appreciate your contributions and look forward to continuing to support your success.

Pros

It’s hard to say. I was only there for a week and I thought people were nice, but it turns out that all of the negative reviews are true.

Cons

They are the cons. After interviewing for this job and then accepting it, I read the Glassdoor reviews and became extremely hesitant, but decided that there are a lot of folks out there who are jaded by personal conflicts within the workplace. Knowing my work ethic, I decided to move forward and even though I had an upcoming surgery that prompted the delay of my start I still reached back out after surgery and wanted to pursue a relationship with them. This was my first contract job. I was totally OK with what their plans were when it comes to getting paid for work you actually do. I was quite put off by the amount of training I was expected to do on my own time and not get paid for, but they still agreed to pay me for a couple hours here and there to train myself on pretty much everything besides the majority of training, which consists of the owners daughter training you how to clock your time. This is the on board training that you only get paid for if you survive three months. This is time I’ll never get back and I have come to terms with that. Here comes the part that will sound redundant as it’s similar to other VGF reviews on all platforms. Without any notice whatsoever, all of my access is cut off after less than five days of work with them. When I say “work”, this is me being at my desk training myself, meeting with them when requested which was maybe three times during that week (keep in mind I was a brand new hire) and doing a couple minutes here and there trying to work and actually make money. The day before I was terminated I reread these company reviews and suddenly started having that gut feeling I get when I have made a bad decision. It proved to be a feeling that was deserved. After my access suddenly gets cut off on my fifth day of employment, with false hope that my fears were not suddenly realized, I send them an email letting them know what happened but immediately received back an email thanking me for my time and that I was terminated. The email also stated I would get paid for any money owed on May 20. I did send an email back asking what I could’ve done differently or if there was anything specific that I could use as a learning tool for growth. They blocked my email after that. I learned this because they never paid me for the five days I was there. No paycheck in the mail, no direct deposit even after I gave them my direct deposit info for the second time on the Friday I was terminated. I’m not sure why they would’ve requested it from me if they planned on firing me anyways… but I digress. To continue, I learned that my email was blocked because today June 9. I finally reached out to them to let them know I never received a paycheck and the email would not go through. No worries. I sent it from a secondary email address and copied my lawyer in case I need to go to small claims court. It would be worth it to me to go that route as this “business” should not continue to get away with what they are doing to hard-working people.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We are disappointed to see this review, as it contains several factual inaccuracies regarding the nature of the relationship, onboarding process, communication, and compensation structure. The reviewer was engaged as an independent contractor, not an employee, and worked with Virtual Gal Friday for less than one week. Prior to beginning onboarding, the contractor informed us of a planned surgery and delayed their start date. Once recovered, we welcomed them back into the onboarding process. Our onboarding process, training structure, compensation model, contractor relationship, and payment schedules are clearly outlined throughout our website, onboarding materials, contractor agreements, and communications. Contractors are provided with self-paced training resources, documentation, and review sessions designed to help them learn systems, workflows, and client expectations before taking on responsibilities independently. We take compensation obligations seriously. Contractor time submissions are reviewed according to our standard procedures and paid according to our established payment schedule and contractor agreement. We communicated directly with this contractor regarding the status and timing of payment. Because we respect the privacy of our clients, contractors, and team members, we do not publicly discuss individual performance matters or contract decisions. Virtual Gal Friday continues to invest in technology, automation, training, and operational improvements to better support our clients, contractors, and internal team. We believe that embracing innovation while maintaining a strong human-centered approach allows us to provide exceptional support to the healthcare and professional service practices we serve. We remain committed to providing flexible remote contractor opportunities for individuals who thrive in a self-directed, independent work environment, and we wish this individual success in their future endeavors.
