I’ve never had a bad professional experience in my 25 years until this place. I only worked at PassTime for 6 weeks and it was the worst and most disorganized experience in my entire professional life. The code was a complete disaster with zero coding standards. I tried to learn the systems the best I could but the lead developer had no interest in knowledge transfer. The lead dev went on a two-week vacation two weeks after I started working, then when she got back she immediately tested positive for COVID and was out for the next 2 weeks, therefore I had no opportunity to learn the systems. Finally, 2 days after she got back in the office I was notified that I “wasn’t a good fit” and they basically fired me for no reason. All good because I wouldn’t have stayed anyways. The only help I got in understanding the systems was from the DBA and sales department (The sales department was actually very helpful and I feel bad they have to deal with such a broken IT Department). Don’t hire a software developer and just expect them to magically understand a complex system with zero documentation, training or coding standards.
