Pros

Smartcat is an AI-first company, creating exciting opportunities to innovate in how we work. There are plenty of opportunities for professional growth in an innovative company and industry. Great level of transparency from the Leadership team, especially through regular All Hands where information is openly shared across the entire organization. Great team. There is a high-trust environment that empowers people to take ownership and make an impact on the business.

Cons

- Workload may increase during peak periods - Processes and structures are still evolving as we fully embrace being an AI-native company

Pros

There’s a high level of trust, you’re given real ownership and space to contribute, not just execute. The People team is very transparent and collaborative. Conversations are open, feedback is direct, and there’s a genuine focus on improving the employee experience, not just maintaining processes. I’ve also really enjoyed the AI-first mindset. There’s a lot of encouragement to think differently, experiment, and find smarter ways to work, which makes the role feel modern and impactful.

Cons

The remote setup offers a lot of flexibility, though I do sometimes miss the energy and connection of working together in person.

Thank you for taking the time to share this, it is really appreciated. It is great to hear that the trust, ownership, and transparency across the team are coming through in your experience, along with the impact of our AI-first approach. We also hear you on missing some of the in-person connection. Finding ways to keep that sense of energy and connection, even in a remote environment, continues to be important for us. Thanks again for sharing your perspective. Warmly, Stacey Richey, VP of People

Pros

I’ve worked at a handful of fast-growing tech companies, and Smartcat has been one of the most genuinely energizing environments I’ve experienced. What stands out most is the level of ownership people are trusted with. You’re not boxed into a narrow role, you’re encouraged to think bigger, take initiative, and actually shape how things get done. Everything from getting your own personal AI agent on Day One to providing ideas and feedback to HR, the team wants you to succeed, will listen, and will support you. That kind of autonomy can be intimidating at first, but it’s also what makes the work meaningful. You see the impact of what you’re building. The pace is real, this is not a place for someone looking to coast. Priorities evolve, and you need to be comfortable with a bit of ambiguity. But if you enjoy solving hard problems and learning quickly, it’s incredibly rewarding. I’ve grown more here in a short time than I have in years elsewhere. The people are another highlight. There’s a strong sense of collaboration, and I’ve consistently found teammates willing to jump in, share context, and support each other. It doesn’t feel political or hierarchical, which makes a big difference day to day. It’s not perfect, no company is, and like any scaling organization there are moments where things feel a bit unstructured. But there’s a clear effort to improve and a leadership team that is open to feedback and focused on building something long-term. If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, values autonomy, and wants to be part of building rather than maintaining, this is a great place to be.

Cons

- Not the best fit if you prefer very defined roles and processes - Because the company is pushing into new territory, processes are still evolving and can occasionally feel unstructured

Really appreciate you taking the time to share this. It’s great to hear how energizing the environment has been for you, and that the ownership, autonomy, and ability to build something meaningful are coming through so clearly. You also captured the reality of a fast-moving, evolving company in a very honest way. We are continuing to focus on adding the right level of clarity and structure so teams can keep moving quickly without losing that sense of ownership. Thanks again for sharing such a thoughtful perspective. Warmly, Stacey Richey, VP of People
