Pros

Posting this as it seems like mainly negative reviews that paint a drastically different picture than what I've experienced. Trend Lab has been in business for 20 years and employs about 30 people. It seems like people are either here 8+ years or don't make it a year. In my short time here, it seems pretty obvious that some people "get it" and others don't. It's a small, woman ran company with many long term employees, which is why I was attracted to this job, compared to a large, corporate environment. Some people do well with ambiguity and independence, some don't. Compared to previous jobs, I feel like this one comes with many perks, most notably the office is empty by 4pm except for Fridays where everyone leaves by 1. I believe one of the recent reviews was left by my predecessor. Going through the files I got, I don't know what they did all day! Of course they were disgruntled, they didn't seem to know what they were doing or have real training in how to manage social media. I'm guessing they scrolled instagram all day as "research" and wondered why their VP and CEO were both frustrated with their performance. I also feel like a lot of previous reviews paint a negative picture of the CEO. Reminds me of the Beyoncé lyrics, "I'm not bossy, I'm the boss". I like that the CEO tells you what she's thinking. I've worked too many places with coy politics and I'm over it, I want to work somewhere where people are direct. I know some workers are intimidated by the CEO, but they themselves are relatively shy people who are not open to feedback, even from peers. I wonder if the CEO was a man if any reviews would have those negative comments...

Cons

*It is a majority women in the office. This comes with it's own set of headaches and challenges, but that's not a Trend Lab specific problem. *No outlined promotion tracks, etc, like you'd find at a corporate company, but going off all the people that have worked here for years there seems to be ample ways to earn a promotion. *Open floorplan office, but it is almost always quiet during the day. *Small company. You will wear many hats. *Many long term employees so it can feel intimidating being the new person, but everyone has been very nice.

Pros

I have worked at Trend Lab for over 5 years and have had many really great experiences in my time here! I truly enjoy working with every single employee at Trend Lab, including the CEO who I have personally learned so much from- she is intelligent, fair and continues to give me and the team the opportunity to grow our careers in an upward direction that motivates and drives us! She wants us doing what we are passionate about. Yes, there are days that are more stressful than others and because we are a small company, people wear a few different hats, but a transparent team environment is highly stressed and when we all work together effectively great things happen! This is a really exciting time for Trend Lab and we currently have a wonderful team onboard. Some of the benefits I have found working here are: • Opportunity to make a difference- you are not a number • The industry is fun and ever-changing • Flexible work schedule – early leave on Fridays all year • Great location • Wonderful people

Cons

It is a small company, so if you are used to a large corporation, it may be a shift for you. There is a lot of collaboration and critiquing of work which actually becomes helpful once you get used to it. I came from a large company to Trend Lab and I have not regretted my decision for a minute.
