Pros

- little to no bureaucracy - freedom and independence: you choose when to work and how to prioritize. Result is the only measure of your performance - independent teams: each team establishes their own processes they are most comfortable with - solid engineering culture: engineers trust each other and their engineering managers. Decent internal quality of software - technically challenging projects - company looks after its employees - vertical growth: the process of growing vertically is clear

Cons

- limited professional opportunities (no horizontal growth): due to the nature of the business, there are no new products developed that you can lead and become an engineering manager - higher management plays politics and not always straightforward about its intents in terms of company's direction
