Subject matter experts are the definitive source of knowledge who contribute their expertise to their niche and enhance organizational efficiency. They evaluate organizational needs and determine suitable technical solutions. They ensure requirements are met and work at businesses, organizations, or as independent consultants. Subject matter experts identify areas where a technical solution would improve or enhance business performance. They consult across business operations, provide mentorship, and contribute their specialized knowledge when appropriate.

Subject matter experts provide expertise and guidance to IT developers during the software development life cycle. They determine whether technical solutions meet requirements and verify technical reference information, including user guides, training manuals, or system requirements. They ensure an accurate representation of expertise before distributing technical solutions to end-users, document processes, and disseminate information to all relevant stakeholders. Subject matter experts need a Master of Business Administration, Six Sigma Black Belt professional certification, or similar and 10-15 years of experience working in a relevant area of expertise.

Responsibilities for Subject Matter Expert

  • Manage and track legal budgeting and performance to budget.
  • Perform quarterly portfolio risk analysis. aggregate, prepare risk data into executive level summary reports.
  • Participate in business planning activities, to include periodic pipeline reviews, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal reviews.
  • Perform security reviews of official change requests for various control boards.
  • Assist in contract negotiations on scientific / technical matters as requested.
  • Identify, analyze, and able to resolve program support deficiencies.
  • Support cyber security project teams in the delivery of program and task order requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating projects such as rollouts of new software, or delivery of new systems and workflow processes.
  • Develop, track, and report operational metrics to the CEO and CFO.
  • Support the organization as the lead for call plan development and execution, and provide detailed reports on follow up activities after plan execution.
  • Recommend new detection equipment to enhance the inspection processes.
  • Conduct financial research and complex reconciliation analysis of budget data.
  • Responsible for mobility, budget, relocation, decision making, and RFE response in partnership with external counsel.

Qualifications for Subject Matter Expert

  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in computer engineering, computer science, engineering or information systems or science Degree and equivalent experience.
