Just left Capital One after the bulk of my time in Corp Strat, former AP at MBB. Great money, terrible experience. I was a highly paid slide writer. They promised great roles in the business and a path up - completely false. There are few business roles available, and no Corp Strat hire since 2017 has made it past MVP in the lines of business. Tread with caution.

I can’t believe I would come across someone I worked with at McK on here. Great to see you again. Wishing you the best for whatever comes your way.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I just started looking at some of their roles for a potential exit.
It sounds like your frustration is upward trajectory beyond the VP level. But if someone was fine with maxing out at ~550k can you hang around indefinitely at that level? Or is it up or out like MBB?
Just to clarify, I don’t think anything OP said is unreasonable or “out of touch”. If the ability to continue rising up the ranks is important to someone the points the OP raised make total sense. I was more just curious, if you’re someone who would be satisfied with the compensation outlined above, and less motivated by continued future progression, can you maintain that income at Cap One long-term, or is it likely you would be transitioned out of the business at some point?
What’s your next move? Those types of comp packages are hard to find unless you go to a unicorn AI company like anthropic.
How long did you last? You at least did well since you’re leaving of your cb once.
May i ask what their all in was like? Guessing still a good hop to other fintech (not that fintech is good these days)
This package does sound insane. What's your comp at the next spot? What does fap1 pay EM/D level? Maybe I should be aiming to go there lol
I’ve been eyeing roles there but avoided applying so far because of stories like these
