How are the career development opportunities at Affirm?

      Affirm reviews

There is a reason anti-depressants are free with the health plan

      Operations specialist
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Pay is good, benefits are great, insurance is great, remote is amazing.

      Cons

Such a toxic environment, you can never get promoted or move up, ideas are stolen all the time, no recognition. You get told one thing when in reality the opposite is going on. If you enjoy being anxious and worried all the time this is the place for you. Suddenly the way you do things will be considered wrong after thats the way its been done for years. You will be given random work with 0 guidance.

      Toxic, political nightmare

      Anonymous employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

The reason I did not give Affirm a 1 to work at is because salary and benefits are good here.

      Cons

Although all companies have some level of politics, Affirm was a nightmare to work for. There was constant sneaky sabotage, outright backstabbing, and bullying. There are not equal opportunities for all unless you are part of the "in" crowd. VPs are horrible, creating a toxic culture where people are constantly scared of getting laid off. There is virtually no upward career growth, good management, or opportunity here. If you value those things (and a good mental health) look elsewhere!

      We are all burnt out

      Data analytics manager
      Current employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Remote - Competitive pay - Relatively good benefits, but no HSA - Macbook Pros - Monthly wellness & tech fund - Free therapy (you will need it)

      Cons

      - Nonexistent WLB: they will work you like a dog - No growth opportunities: managers will string you along for years - Leadership constantly changing priorities, frequent reorgs - Amazon-like "high performance" PIP culture - people just disappear - Very stingy on perks/swag unlike most tech companies - No 401K match - Siloed teams, often doing redundant work - Really toxic culture - beware!!!! - Everyone is burnt out, not a strong company culture generally

      Great Company

      Analytics manager
      Current employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Exceptional benefits; exciting prospects for the medium-long term for the company; talented coworkers; good career development opportunities; good recognition for impactful work.

      Cons

WLB can be very team-dependent; sometimes-difficult legacy infrastructure to navigate (but there's constant work improving this); siloing between teams.

Great company, but growth is team-dependent

      Software engineer ii
      Former employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Great people, unparalleled work-life balance, and not super demanding workload. The people there are smart and kind, and the company is doing well and I very much believe in the company's success.

      Cons

How fast you grow in your career is dependent on the team you're on. Some teams have little work to do, more politics, unhelpful managers, and you're stuck working on trivial things which lead down a slimmer path to promotion. Other teams are fast-paced, impactful, and foster a strong team culture. You need to be aware of this and push for your own growth.

      Disjointed workplace

      Organic growth marketing manager
      Former employee
      Palo Alto, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Exciting product Great product development Lots of opportunities for growth

      Cons

Company was going through a lot of changes, and teams were very disjointed. Decision making within the B2B group was chaotic at best. It felt like upper management were setting unrealistic/unobtainable goals that had little to no input from actual teams.
