What is the hiring process like at Amentum?

      Amentum reviews

      LOW PAY!

      Anonymous employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

Deployment opportunities overseas. Nice new logo.

      Cons

Cons: Too many to list but, here are some highlights Moral for overseas employees is at an all-time low. Confidence in Amentum is at an all-time low. Amentum strides lockstep with immoral government policies such as Covid regulations. Low competitive pay for experienced personnel. -50/75% Entry level, 0 experience, unlicensed employees earn the same as 10,20,30 yr. veterans. Company exploits workers in various ways. One way is that they prefer military experience because they are hiring trained personnel from the USG which isn't out of pocket for Amentum. The only training Amentum offers is required training which, by all standards, mostly internal training on regulations that are required by internal management. Employees are required to memorize in mass, company policies that have no bearing on the actual position. Pay isnt even moderately below industry standards. Its 50-75% below. Comparatively, civilian airlines pay anywhere from 43 to 80 per hour. Most Amentum positions pay 17-23 deployed with uplifts dictated by the State Department. Amentum uses the government provided uplifts as total hourly wage. Amentum taxes bonuses and travel pay as though you are stateside, disregarding the tax-exempt status of employees who remain deployed for over 330 days outside of the United States. Bare minimum security, equipment, contingencies for hazardous hostile or imminent threat positions. Amentum consistently seeks out and employs foreign employees for US military positions to reduce cost. Amentum boasts 9B in excess profits vs. an airline such as American Airlines posting 833M in 2023. Amentum provides 0 training, education, does not own the hangers, aircraft, material or resources etc. that is leaches from the USG. It should be noted, in the past, to maximize profits for shareholders, Amentum (DynCorp) opened an OCONUS shell Corp to minimize tax implications, insurance exposure etc... In final, to be very clear, Amentum has been found to take out life insurance policies on employees on hazardous duty, imminent danger positions. This is exactly why Amentum left employees in Afghanistan AFTER the evacuation of Kabul. They were volunteered to stay after the evacuation and only left Kabul on the very last aircraft available. Amentum (DynCorp) retains the very same management for decades. Only the name changed.

Team focuses on quality, productivity and efficiency.

      Pros

Since the removal of one individual from his position in management and the adoption of new approches to process improvement in workplace it's a welcomed change.

      Cons

      Management tactics and their diceptions.

      Pros

      Cons

Extremely high turnover rate! Poorly supported. Disorganized. Personnel shortages burdens you to carry other positions.

      Pros

Throughout the hiring process and during my employment the staff in Virginia and Austria were always super supportive whenever an issue arose. Very proactive in helping solve them.

      Cons

Lots of "spammy" emails that applied to other employees, but not those within OSCE. This was fixed after a couple of months.

      Pros

None that seem to be helpful.

      Cons

-Overwork hard workers, keep lazy workers for long time, tolerance for lazy complainers, very poor unprofessional management. -Pay is minimal and depending on what contract your working on, the company doesn't seem to value their employees. -Corporate is horrible. Particularly HR. No help with anything except their agenda. Time off calculations is still messed up. -When hired, they are not helpful to get you situated at your desk/office. You're sent to the office and have to figure out things on your own. -This is not a permanent or long-lasting contract job. When hired, I was not informed that their client will end the job by the end of 2024. -After asked if my position will be reassigned, I'm told I have to look for other positions on my own. I applied to several within the company, no one contacted me. The positions no longer available in the area. I contacted the hiring manager but no response after several weeks. -When the hard-to-find announcement was made, the higher ups were stalling for an excuse, The director for all contractors leaves the company. That's like when a ship is sinking, the captain is the first to jump ship! -No awards or announcements for people doing a job above and beyond expectations. -Morale is bad so no one is doing their tickets.

Awful benefits - especially parental leave

      Pros

Amentum has good clients such as the federal government that may ultimately hire you directly if you're client-facing

      Cons

Amentum offers terrible benefits when compared to industry standards. Perhaps the biggest slap in the face is effectively working for the federal government where everyone gets 12 weeks paid parental leave, and Amentum only offers FOUR. I'm sorry but at 4 weeks postpartum, you're only getting minimal sleep, your milk supply hasn't regulated, you haven't even had a chance to heal and stop bleeding. What a joke. I am leaving the first chance I get because this is such a terrible policy and shows how non-family and female friendly this company is. Asking about parental leave during the interview process is taboo, so hopefully this helps someone. I know as soon as I got hired and found this out, I immediately started looking for a different job. Other benefits aren't great either - employee contributions for all insurance options are high for the Defense industry

      Pros

Really good coworkers in my department. Always helpful with working late and problem solving. Cares about keeping the facility operational as well as the customers happy.

      Cons

*Low pay. *No room for advancement. *New hire Engineers start at a higher wage. *New hire Engineering Technicians start at a higher wage. *New hire mechanics start at the same wage. *Job titles are "Conformed" to lower positions and responsibilities than what your title and responsibility actually are. *Management doesn't care and creates a toxic environment. *Nepotism and micromanagement *High turnover

Opertunities to transfer within the company, straight forward recruiting amd interview process. All in all i would consider a return for the right opertunity.

      Cons

Typical large cap company working contracts so they are somewhat limited in their ability to retain personal via cost of living adjustments.
