Growing Company - Opportunity to Make an Impact!

      Pros

      - As an organization, our product truly makes a difference in improving the hiring process for companies across the globe and creates meaningful opportunities for talented individuals regardless of their background. As a sales rep, it is great to sell a product you truly believe in. - Remote first sales team with a great culture and opportunities to get together as a team. Great salary and benefits. US benefits and insurance are top of the line. Unlimited PTO, First Fridays unplugged each month to rest up and recharge. - Improving sales organization and culture—Renewed focus and leadership globally in the sales organization following SKO last month. Clear vision on where to focus our time and alignment on working together to exceed sales targets within ICP accounts. Sales leaders are supportive and in the trenches with AEs, extremely clear on expectations, and provide valuable feedback/coaching. - Opportunity to make an Impact - As a growing startup with a smaller sales team, there are a ton of accounts to go after to meet and exceed quota. If you like the challenge of hunting deals and finding whitespace opportunities, Beamery is a good fit for you. As a sales rep, you have a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the company as a whole versus what you can do at a larger org. - Compensation Plan - Every AE is going to be looking for this bullet. The compensation plan meets & exceeds industry standards and rewards overperformance for surpassing quota. - Teamwork and collaboration—Beamery employees some of the most talented colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with across all departments. Folks are quick to respond to Slack or hop on a Zoom call to collaborate to solve a problem or help sign a new client.

      Cons

      - Startup Challenges - Fast-moving tech company that is not immune to growing pains. Things change rapidly in the HR industry, so you'll need to be able to roll with the punches and adapt accordingly. - Data Silos amongst teams - Teamwork is getting better on an individual level, but sometimes it can seem like decisions across departments are not looked at holistically. Communication of these changes/decisions could be improved as this information is often hard to find and not communicated thoroughly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us – the level of detail you’ve gone into is really useful and makes us better able to act on what you’ve mentioned. Our mission is super important, so we’re glad to hear you share our perspective, especially when you’re going to be representing Beamery in front of customers. We want all of our employees to feel valued and supported, and I believe our salary and overall benefits package go a long way to helping achieve this. We know we’re not perfect, though, and the issue of teams working in silos has come up before – this is something we’re working really hard to rectify. A more collaborative culture will help us all go further! We’re excited to see what the rest of 2024 holds, and I thank you for your contribution so far. Abakar Saidov, CEO and Co-founder

      Pros

The problem we are solving for enterprise businesses and HR leaders is super interesting, complex and challenging. Beamery is full of smart and genuinely lovely people - even in Sales! If you work hard, yet are thoughtful and collaborative in your approach, you will be welcomed, respected and thrive as part of the Beamteam. Everyone works hard and the pressure can feel immense at times. But the benefits are great. And if you're a sprint worker then you'll relish the "First Friday of the Month Unplugged" to give you a guaranteed 3 day weekend to recharge your boots ready for another sprint. I've had a fantastic personal experience in starting a family whilst at Beamery. Very supportive managers. I did not feel at any point that I lost out on career opportunities and was still offered a promotion in the run up to maternity leave. The leave and pay are also generous. And for my return to work, my co-workers have been consciously respectful and inclusive.

      Cons

This is a fast-moving tech scale up selling a complex offering into a rapidly evolving HR industry. Buckle in. For some, the rollercoaster might be too much of a ride. This is a tech scale up: some level of chaos is expected. You have to be able to roll with the punches, manage with a lack of process and handle uncertainty.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We’re thrilled that you believe in our mission and truly see the impact we’re having for businesses and their people. We’re proud to have built such an awesome team! Your thoughts about the need for alignment, focus on impact, and testing narratives with customers are really useful. All of these areas are things we think we do well already, but there’s always room to iterate and improve and this is something we’ll strive to do over the coming months. Thank you for being part of the Beamery team and for everything you’ve brought to the business so far. Abakar Saidov, Co-founder and CEO.

      Pros

      - The people you work with on a day-to-day basis on the ground are amazing and have kept Beamery as a nice environment to work in - The benefits are great, unlimited holiday, first Friday of the month off, private healthcare - Hybrid working isn’t micromanaged yet, rumours of a return to office plan - Management are not horrible people, most are just inept

      Cons

      - The culture has taken a hit since the first round of redundancies and after the most recent layoffs I imagine it will only get worse - Terrible communication from management about anything worth knowing - Far too many talkers and not enough doers at the mid-management level, if you can spin the yarn then you will thrive at Beamery - C-Suite are in over their heads, budgets are out of control, and spending after Series C was mind-boggling (acquisition of Flux, buying their own office space due to founder egos). Nobody knows how they keep losing money, and making layoffs yet the C-Suite are completetly unaffected in their roles, maybe look within. - Obsessed with hiring from logos or McKinsey, at the time of the first layoffs in Jan 2023 a new team was spawned from Board member recommendations that have made no impact - The product is ever-changing with no clear roadmap, they need to stick to one niche and they will thrive

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. It’s good to see our benefits package recognized, looking after our employees is important to us. Our people are some of the best of the business and we’re lucky to have them. There’s no escaping the fact that 2023 was a difficult year and we fully understand the impact this has had on the organization. The decisions we made were necessary to put the business on a quicker path to profitability, but of course it wasn’t easy saying goodbye to some extremely valued colleagues. Going into 2024 we believe we’re in a strong position to thrive, with a focused product strategy and brilliant leadership team. We appreciate you sticking with us and everything you’ve brought to Beamery so far. If you’d like to discuss any of the points you raised in more detail then please reach out directly. Abakar Saidov, Co-founder and CEO.

      - Pay - First Friday of the month off

      Cons

      - 3 founders have a combined < 6 years of actual working experience - Forbes 30 under 30 - Ignorant and arrogant C-suite <= deadly combination - Complete inability to learn from mistakes across the board - Exceedingly low quality employees, i.e. lazy and dumb - Sales making promises to prospects without talking to engineering - Heavy management echelon that do absolutely nothing useful or appropriate for their expertise - Rife with nepotism and favoritism. New CTO keeps bringing in subpar people of a certain national origin from his previous company over, slotting them directly into team lead / principal engineer positions when they won't even pass as a senior engineer anywhere else - Knee jerk decision making "processes". Every time a new process is introduced, before the results of the first try comes in, management is ready to move on to the next - Management lies all the time. The company values are written but everybody does the exact opposite all the time. There's no transparency or accountability whatsoever - No feedback culture, which leads to all of the above - The worst record keeping and institutional knowledge management - The worst product I've ever worked on with the worst ever customer feedback I've ever seen

Thank you for your review, we appreciate the detailed feedback you’ve shared. We’re very aware that Beamery is not the finished article as a company, and we’re constantly learning, taking feedback on board, and looking at how we can create the most inclusive and successful business possible. We have worked incredibly hard over the last year to improve the transparency across the organisation, as well as making massive strides in how we collect and action feedback – the introduction of CultureAmp being a huge part of this. However, there are a few points you’ve mentioned that I strongly disagree with. To refer to your former colleagues as “lazy and dumb” is not only offensive but incredibly untrue – we have some of the hardest working and most intelligent employees, and I’m proud of everything they’ve done for Beamery and our customers. We are incredibly open as a management team about any changes that are made, and also quick to acknowledge when mistakes have been made. If you have any suggestion on how we can do better on any of these points then please reach out to me directly, and I’d be very happy to have a conversation. Abakar Saidov, Co-founder and CEO.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, we really appreciate it! We’re really proud of a lot of the points you’ve raised. It gives me great joy to see that we have built an amazing culture where people are thriving, and we’re working every day to continue to make it better. And we’ve made a very conscious effort over the last 1.5 years to improve the level of transparency across the business, which has been driven from the executive level down. Our whole Go To Market function is positioned to be mega successful over the coming year and we can wait to see the results! Thank you again for leaving your review – we’re excited to see what the rest of 2024 holds. Abakar Saidov, CEO and Co-founder.
