What is the hiring process like at Chanel?

Falling apart at the seams - Worst Place to Work

      Senior manager
      Former employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

-The company has name recognition, though its reputation within the industry is not as strong as it may seem from the outside. - Generous time-off policies, including two weeks off in the summer, summer Fridays. -The office is centrally located in Manhattan, in a well-maintained building, offering convenience for commuting. -Hybrid schedule (3 days in the office, 2 at home) -Compensation is somewhat competitive for the industry, and health insurance options are standard, though not particularly exceptional.

      Cons

      - Since 2020 the company focuses heavily on hiring diverse talent, but struggles with retention, as many minority employees face unique challenges and lack adequate support. -Assertiveness, creativity, and ambition are qualities praised in certain employees, but similar behaviors from black, asian and latin@s are often undervalued, punished or overlooked. -Leadership lacks transparency, and promotions seem arbitrary, with many managers appearing under-qualified and threatened by experienced hires. -As a private company, there’s minimal accountability for poor decision-making from leaders, and spending often focuses on the wrong priorities. -HR processes are dangerously inconsistent, and reports about workplace issues are frequently mishandled, creating an environment where serious concerns are not adequately addressed.

      Pros

Great discounts and benefits. It is prestigious to work at Chanel Beverly Hills

      Cons

will work you so much and you won't get commission on your sales. It is determined by GROUP customer satisfaction reviews on whether you get paid or not. you can have a score of a perfect 100, but if your colleague messed up, you won't get paid. Even if you sold 900,000 in 3 months, they will give you a 0 dollar payout and you are living off your hourly. per a dozen people at the Beverly Hills location went on leave, bc of health problems related to stress bc they were able to afford their housing and cost of living, while all being the best sellers on the block. Be very careful when applying, and ask all questions in interview process, many of us were tricked bc we didnt understand. many people quit after only months.

      Pros

      1. Iconic luxury brand. 2. Creative innovation.

      Cons

“I was hired as a full-time Fashion Advisor, and while the job posting appeared normal, the reality was different after the interview and contract signing. Due to their urgency for training, they offered me a conditional contract, with a promise to change it to a full-time one after my police check. However, they never followed through on this promise. In the workplace, most sales opportunities, particularly in the watch and jewelry departments, were reserved exclusively for Chinese sales associates. Additionally, they were not hiring anyone for back-of-house roles, so new sales associates like myself were constantly tasked with unpacking and preparing boxes for others, rather than focusing on selling. This dynamic not only hindered my ability to make sales but also put me in a position where I was questioned about my performance due to lack of sales, despite not being given the same opportunities.”
