What is a typical working day like at Equinix?

      Equinix reviews

      Great Company

      Data center technician ii
      Current employee
      Dublin, Dublin
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good team, support, learning, ok pay.

      Cons

Working on shift, every week from day to night it is hard

      Good place for staters

      Data center technician
      Current employee
      Stockholm, Stockholm
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The organization fosters a positive company culture and provides a low-stress environment with routine tasks, making it an excellent starting point for newcomers in this industry. The bonus system stands out as notably appealing and gratifying, a feature not commonly found among other companies in Sweden. The rotation schedule, encompassing weekends, night shifts, early shifts, and late shifts, significantly enhances the monthly salary by an average of 6 to 8 thousand SEK through additional compensation for unsociable hours

      Cons

The base salary falls short in comparison to what is typically offered for similar roles in other organizations. For some individuals, achieving a satisfactory work-life balance may prove challenging due to the rotational schedule, which includes weekends, night shifts, early shifts, and late shifts

Disappointing Environment: Low Pay, Poor Work-Life Balance, and Management Issues

      Data center technician
      Former employee
      Stockholm, Stockholm

      Business outlook

      Pros

The only positive aspect of working here is the coworkers. Initially, they are friendly and supportive, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, this doesn't last. Over time, you'll notice your colleagues losing their smiles and enthusiasm. The challenging work environment gradually takes its toll on everyone's mental health, leading many to eventually leave the company.

      Cons

Insulting pay that's a slap in the face compared to competitors. Benefits? What benefits? They offer the bare minimum and call it generosity. Work-life balance is a joke. Prepare for grueling rotating shifts that'll drain your soul. Promotions? Keep dreaming. Career growth is stagnant, employees remain in entry-level positions for years without promotion. -Job responsibilities are a never-ending nightmare. You're not just a technician, you're everyone's lackey. Management is a toxic cesspool: -Micromanagement that'll suffocate you -Retaliation is their favorite pastime -Dare to speak up? Enjoy unemployment -Nepotism runs rampant - family and friends get fast-tracked while you're left in the dust. -Office atmosphere is so tense you could cut it with a knife. -Mass exodus of talent (5 top performers fled in just 1 month) -Swedish work culture? They've never heard of it. This company is a dumpster fire of toxic American "hustle culture" masquerading as a Swedish enterprise. They'll suck the life out of you while bragging about their record-breaking profits. Operations staff are treated like galley slaves on a sinking ship. If you value your sanity, run far, far away from this hellhole. Your soul will thank you.

      Lost Its Magic

      Senior manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Mostly great co-workers Flexible hybrid model Strong stock performance

      Cons

Toxic politics Very limited career growth Poor executive management At one point, the motto at Equinix was "I'm safe, I belong, I matter." No longer so, and it's demonstrated every day with longtime employees getting axed unceremoniously, and good, hard-working people getting isolated or ostracized if they are not towing the party line. Lots of turnover at all levels of the company. Every new senior executive wants to make their mark, which means a shift in direction in big-bet projects, causing them to have to start from square one, and then the leadership team wonders why we can't ever make progress. I had high hopes for Adaire; directionally, her strategy for the company is good, but something about the way she manages her team creates chaos and toxicity when it trickles down to the working levels.

      Good starting point in IT

      Customer operations engineer
      Current employee
      Ōsaka, Osaka
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good entry point into it especially if you have no experience, nice coworkers, laid-back environment, snacks inside the office.

      Cons

Irregular shifts, alternating between long day and night shifts, are terrible health-wise. Low pay for hard work. You can't gain network engineering experience, such as configuring a network, you mostly only do cabling and racking/stacking equipment. This can make the job dead end.

      Flexi work culture

      Senior business analyst
      Former contractor
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

no micro management. work from home is allowed. comp off for weekend work.

      Cons

Work depends on your manager and which Team you are in. Working hrs stretched till mid night and is considered normal.
