What is the salary like at GWI?

      GWI reviews

      Good

      Sales development representative (sdr)
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend

      Business outlook

      Pros

Realistic targets, they hire people without sales experience, really good company culture with events, snacks, and excellent for young people as you're surrounded by peers. Work load is very manageable.

      Cons

Salary is maybe less competitive than other firms but it is compensated by the culture and other aspects and reasonable workload.

      Pros

Half day Friday’s in the summer, although I am sure these will be removed soon enough.

      Cons

      1. Endless redundancies, which are handled appallingly. 2. Leadership totally detached from how the staff are feeling 3. CTO lacks knowledge in his domain 4. Toxic culture 5. Constant change in strategy and priorities with no real logic - feels like someone sees a post online of the latest tech trend and panics 6. Leadership team do not listen or taken on any feedback - no matter how factual it is 7. Lack of opportunity and progression 8. Poor pay 9. Leadership team have no empathy whatsoever 10. People constantly fearing for their jobs 11. Unrealistic and crazy deadlines for products no one actually knows what they are 12. Comical levels of incompetence

      Pros

In the past there were pros. But not anymore.

      Cons

In the last 12 months there have been 3 bigs rounds of redundancies, which have been handled terribly. Each wave of redundancies has followed a huge hiring surge - literally hire then fire mentality. Senior Leaders are also put in position, they meddle with the way the company is run in a negative way and then they are also fired. The company is increasingly only focussed on AI and is making staff work around the clock to create a product which will clearly put more jobs at risk. The culture is dead. The money is terrible - way below market rate. They are clearly trying to get into a position to sell the business...but if they carry on at this rate there may not be a business to sell!!

      I don’t recommend working here

      Anonymous employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

Friyays in the summer Flexible start and finish Fruit in the office There are some lovely people here but a lot of them have also been made redundant.

      Cons

Morale - morale here is at rock bottom. There have been so many rounds of redundancies that people are constantly reeling from the last round of changes. For me, I have lost all the colleagues I used to work with, I barely know anyone in the office anymore. Management - I’ve worked out that I’ve had on average 2 managers a year since I started working here and none of them have actually been able to manage! I’ve had micromanagers, unprofessional managers and managers who do nothing. This brings me on to my next issue. Training and development - there are no training or development opportunities here. I have never been allowed to attend one course apart from LinkedIn learning, which is a complete waste of time. Managers are sent on internal courses which don’t seem to train them to do anything. Salaries - GWI is an appalling payer, salaries are very low here! Despite all the cost saving I am seeing the company doing, the employees are getting none of the benefits. Issues with the Athens office - there have been consistent complaints of how women are treated by the Athens office, I have seen this play out myself and it’s not ok, yet nothing has been addressed. Changes in strategy, direction, and senior leadership - I can’t keep up tbh. Senior leadership don’t seem to stay longer than 18 months… they also start, make recruitment decisions, people are hired. 6 months later the senior leader leaves and then people who were hired are made redundant!

It’s a great working environment, lovely office and perks - great flexibility too, and no micro managing - we get to have our say and time with the ELT as well Great hustle culture, and very entrepreneurial

      Cons

They keep salary bands on job ads hidden to hide the fact that they’ll end up paying more for new employees coming in - don’t like the lack of transparency - people talk and leave when they find out anyway

Hi, thank you for this honest review. You highlight some of the great things about working at GWI, from the culture and perks to the open communication with leadership. I'm very sorry to hear you don't feel the pay decisions are transparent enough. We use a market-leading benchmarking tool for salary discussions, but I do strongly suggest you reach out to your People Partners who can dive into this a bit deeper and provide further clarity. Pros

The people here really made it special. I guess the camaraderie between us all working through tough times was truly the best part.

      Cons

      - The salaries here are an absolute joke. The bands between roles could be 25k between a mid level and senior role. - The amount of redundancies that we lived through, for a 400 person company was astounding. I have never worked in a place where each org faced redundancies at different times (maybe to prevent a collective consultation?) - They'd hire in 'leadership' with zero experience, let them change everything, then we'd watch them (suspiciously and quietly) disappear. Paying people off to leave is a signature move of GWI. - Hired on the pretence it would be fully remote (job description did NOT say there was a mandatory day in the office). Then they upped it to two days for no reason. Even when you try to do the right thing and request a flexible working request, it gets denied because "changes are coming". So people now HAVE to come in twice a week to sit on virtual meetings - Planning and executing a Sales Kick Off during a redundancy consultation period is absolutely insane and a kick to those people already down (especially when cost cutting is a reason) - Leadership who use AI like no tomorrow. Full FY plans quite obviously created by AI that we were to follow to a T - The values meant absolutely nothing. If your leadership can't live them, why should we? - The people that are still there are only there because they have LOTS of shares and are hoping one day they'll be able to sell them (good luck) - Product roadmap decisions change with the wind - The Marketing restructure was hugely detrimental to morale and I think spelled the end of things - Absolutely no opportunity to progress.
