What is working from home like at IKEA?

      IKEA reviews

Don’t Waste your time at IKEA

      Resolution specialist
      Current employee
      White Marsh, MD
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The only good thing is you can work from home a few days a week but it’s unlikely you will work 9-5 M-F

      Cons

Overall the company is awful, there’s nothing good to say, if you don’t accept a position where you make over $80k from the start it’s likely you will be in poverty and need to live off government assistance, odds of getting a promotion are extremely low even with years of experience, there are not many job opportunities at ikea. IKEA pays on the lower end of market pay for all its positions. Been at the company for over 5 years never received a bonus No individual performance incentive All it is is a corporate job! ikea is not offering anything special (no good benefits) to its employees, I almost feel like a clown for working here as long as I have! As someone who isn’t into politics very much is very obvious that the company has a progressive or liberal bias and at times comes across as very distasteful or even in unrespectful to those who aren’t very into all that stuff. I would really like to work at a company where quality work & tenureship is rewarded but that is not here

      Great place

      Business outlook

      Pros

-Very stable working hours -Balanced personal and professional life -No work from home culture -A lot of facilities provided in terms of medical for you and your family. -Leadership opportunities.

      Cons

-Its not really an Interior Design work based firm -Copy paste is what’s expected for implementation. -u need to do the floor work such as drilling, light fixing, removing wrappers, and all tasks which we as designers supposed to get done from outside have to do it ourselves. -too much time waste for material procurement process

      Good place to work

      Customer service representative
      Former employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

Good colleagues and if you have a good TL will be a great place to work. Lot's to learn and develop your skills. Once you have worked there for sometime you do have the option to work from home and 1 day in the office is mandatory.

      Cons

Some of the TLs shouldn't even have the job. They are not there because they care about looking after their team, but because they have the right contacts/friends to get into the position. I saw people who more than deserve to get the position of TL get rejected and of course they later quit. SOME managers pretend to care about your problems, and some of them don't even know how to operate the systems themselves or answer simple questions. If you do manage to get lucky with one of the good TLs you'll be happy as it will be a nice place to work with a good environment.

      Build your career at IKEA!

      Customer team leader
      Current employee
      Tempe
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Inclusive and supportive work environment - Opportunities for growth and development, be vocal about your desire for more and be curious/ask questions. - People like you! I have been so lucky to have built friendships and be part many co-worker's journeys, where some have moved on to other roles within the organisation and outside. - Competitive salary: IKEA values you beyond your degree and resume and places a large portion to your culture&values fit and the skills you have in your backpack that you acquired in your IKEA journey. - Discounts and bonus program: 15% discount applied to all items!!

      Cons

      - Work/life balance for parents with young children/limited help can be stressful when doing shiftwork, however, IKEA now offers flexible work arrangements and fixed rosters.

      Pros

      - Kind employees - HR was phenomenal - Cute office

      Cons

      - Ugly uniform - Disgraceful pay - Incredibly draining having to deal with belligerent and disrespectful customers all the time - Weird micromanaging attitude from TLS - PSI was insufferable & took their jobs too seriously - 6 day work weeks should be illegal - No flexible WFH options.
