Pros
Facilities were nice, but somewhat outdated compared to other hospitals in the area.
Bus system is excellent, free, and fairly reliable.
Cafeterias are cheap and food is decent.
Co-workers are mostly very intelligent and great mentors.
Cons
Benefits and pay are mediocre at best. The hospital relies solely on its name to recruit and retain employees, rather than offering competitive packages.
The hiring process is horribly unorganized. For a major hospital you’d think they have everything streamlined and in one central location. Think again. Trying to get ahold of the proper person for HR or payroll in your department is a nightmare and the information is passed down through senior staff like folklore rather than provided in an employee handbook or orientation.
Also, employees can be very cocky about working here. I know that the best of the best are employed here, but it’s very off-putting - “act like you’ve been there before”, ya know?
