      Pros

Great culture, smart and bright coworkers, relatively competitive pay, good growth opportunities

      Cons

Tech stack relatively old, could be challenging to hire the brightest

Lack of maral ethics -- both management and HR

      Pros

Neat work areas and a bunch of good technical persons around.

      Cons

Very bad and egoistic managers, especially from Dev teams in India. Moreover, the HRs force you to submit good ratings. A number of ways my manager wanted to alter my decisions, in private meetings. Very rude and overly snobbish management, leading to slow career growth and more internal politics.

Meeting expectations may require continuous improvement and sometimes long hours during critical projects or deadlines. Organizational Structure

      Cons

Moves very very slowly - needs consensus for everything. Not a culture if you want to move fast.

      Business outlook

      Pros

MathWorks has a culture of very smart, thoughtful people who genuinely identify with the company’s core values, and many have been here for a long time. Career progression is slow but meaningful, with advancement earned rather than given through empty titles. There’s a good balance between individual contributors and managers. Product Marketing is particularly interesting, combining aspects of product management and product marketing with broad interaction across customers, engineering, and sales. The work is varied, and once you earn trust you have a lot of freedom in how you interpret and shape your role. At headquarters, having a private office for everyone is a big plus.

      Cons

Decision-making can be slow, as teams are careful to optimize for quality and correctness. There is occasional misalignment across product team strategies, with each group focusing on doing the right thing for its own area. Development retains strong ownership of the product roadmap, which is understandable but can sometimes lead to gaps with market demand.

      Pros

MathWorks provides a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment where employees are encouraged to share ideas and continuously learn. The company offers excellent benefits, including generous health coverage, a strong retirement plan, quarterly bonus and flexible work arrangements. Each employee has their own office and buildings are very nicely maintained and very clean, Work-life balance is highly valued, and management is supportive of personal and professional development. The company culture emphasizes respect, diversity, and innovation. Additionally, MathWorks offers free breakfast and lunch, as well as complimentary on-site gym services, which contribute to a healthy, energized, and positive workplace atmosphere.

      Cons

While MathWorks offers many benefits, the pace of work can be demanding at times, especially during product release cycles. There are often a lot of changes happening simultaneously, which can make it challenging to keep track of priorities and adapt quickly. Some teams may experience limited opportunities for rapid career advancement, as the company tends to have a relatively flat organizational structure. Pay is relatively low when you live in Massachusetts where everything(housing) is so expensive.
