Pros
The job itself is great, the pay is pretty decent, and the leadership can always change to better people
Cons
Nepotism, long hours, micromanaging, and customer service can be a joke to deal with
Pros
Great pay, massive opportunity to grow, great environment
Cons
Sales is not for everyone
Pros
The only pro is having a job in this economy but that's it.
Cons
Decreasing margins leads to less commission. It's impossible to earn top level commission anymore. It's unlivable and you have no work life balance. I have worked up to 70 hours in one week during the holidays and always work well over 40 hours during regular time. You do not get overtime because you earn commission even on paychecks where you earn minimum pay which is hourly only. Corporate wants you to be a yes man but never remembers when you go above and beyond to do favors for them. Promotions are all about politics. A DM or Senior Store Manager will promote someone if it makes them look good regardless of if the person is a good fit or not. Many managers are stepping down because they do not get any additional compensation for taking on extra work. We have high turnover. People quitting on the spot or getting fired constantly. You have to request time off, even just for one day, at least a month in advance. Constantly understaffed so everyone is required to work extra hours. Management does not listen to the needs or suggestion of employees. When the warehouse messes up your order, they do not take accountability and fixing their mistakes can cost you hundreds to thousands in commission and there are no repercussions for them whatsoever. The warehouse often does not respond to emails and ignores you about important time sensitive matters. I could go on but I'm too tired.
Pros
I have served as a sales associate and manager over the years. -Hourly vs Commission -If you do not receive enough commission you have an hourly rate of $18; no overtime pay if you work past 40hrs; which is required for majority schedules. -40-46 hours a week depending on your managers request. -If you have a flexible manager some give 34-38, if you need it. -Pretty easy to request off if your manager allows -PTO, Dental, Healthcare offered -401k/Roth offered, with a low match -Some managers are really great to work with and do not micro manage. Others not so much. Work Place environment solely depends on who you are placed under for manager and district manager.
Cons
This is a hourly performance based job, meaning if associate does not perform and are in the bottom 10% or "10 people" a write up or termination is given, which can occur even if the probationary period is not up. Key note, district manager or the company does not care if the store has not had customers in a week due to low store traffic, it is still considered the associates fault they are not selling ghost. -Mandatory to work every holiday (Presidents, Memorial, 4th of July, Black Friday, Veterans, Labor Day, etc), mandatory days for holiday can extend from 4-7 days straight, 9am-9pm; no work life balance and family time -Over the last year or two, commission structure always changes without informing associates. -Recently made it mandatory to work Saturday and Sunday, even if you have a religious exemption. -Over the last year, District managers will write you up if you are not being vocal on Microsoft teams chats, for example if you do not "shout out your sales", you are considered to not be a team player. -Over the last year, mandatory unpaid meetings once month for sales associates and once a week for managers at locations up to a hour away, no they not compensate gas; meaning you are to miss days of the sales floor.

When the rubber meets the pavement, and you're in a building with one direct manager on site, lines get blurred and the company morals are lost. Everything is not as pretty on the inside as it looks from the outside!!
