      Pros

The NBA is one of the most recognizable and respected organizations in global sports, and working there gives you access to innovative projects, talented colleagues, and a mission that extends far beyond the court. Employees often feel proud to be part of an organization that invests in community impact, player development, and major social initiatives. The culture is fast-moving, creative, and driven by people who genuinely care about the league’s influence worldwide. There are opportunities to gain exposure to cross-functional teams, high-profile events, and industry-leading partnerships. The brand name itself carries significant weight, opening doors both internally and externally for future career growth. Overall, the NBA offers a unique blend of sports, business, and social engagement — a place where your work can contribute to something fans and communities actually feel.

      Cons

Like many large organizations, the employee experience depends heavily on your specific team and leadership. Some departments operate with strong communication, clear expectations, and supportive management, while others struggle with consistency or bandwidth. This can lead to uneven workloads, shifting priorities, and occasional ambiguity around processes or decision-making. The pace can be demanding, especially during major events or seasonal peaks, and work-life balance varies based on department. Because the organization is so interconnected, changes can happen quickly, and employees may need to adapt with limited notice. Professional development opportunities exist but can feel informal or dependent on individual teams rather than standardized across the organization. More consistent structure around growth, manager training, and internal communication would strengthen the overall employee experience.

Great to work in sports, compensation is dismal

      Pros

I love working in basketball. I love the fact that my life revolves around sports. The people I work with are good people. There are some good perks, like tickets to NBA games and events at MSG or Barclays.

      Cons

I can barely live in this area on this salary. I have no career path to growth and no sign of light. I am actively trying to leave.

Great brand with a friendly and encouraging working environment. Get to live and breathe basketball.

Like many attractive big brands, many people choose to stay at the NBA for a long time. With that, career mobility is not as quick.
