Pros
This review is solely for the corporate office/recruiting team. I have heard many great things about working on property and I believe many of the reviews are based on working on property. I would say a pro of working at the corporate office is that most people are nice and you get to see the executive team a lot. They have Coffee with Kurt where you can have a session with the President to learn about changes in the company. You have a choice to eat lunch everyday with the recruiting team. There is a nice gym and cafeteria for employees. They offer multiple different providers for medical and it’s nice to be able to choose based on your own needs. You do get hotel and amenity discounts as well. The recruiting team works off a hybrid schedule. You will be onsite for 5 days a week for the first 6 months then you go on a hybrid schedule.
Cons
There is a lot of turnover in the Recruiting Department. There has been a few that have left or are planning to leave within the last couple of months. Yes, there are a couple that are leaving to pursue opportunities at other Omni properties, but most have left the Omni completely. There are minimal growth opportunities within the department. There is the Recruiting Coordinator, Recruiting Specialist, Sr. Recruiter, and Recruiting Manager. Most people join as a Recruiting Coordinator or Specialist and the only way to get promoted from there is if a spot opens up, which usually happens when someone leaves the department. The only “team building” experience you get is the 5 minute morning meeting that everyone attends to share their goals/hires from the previous day. They ask for feedback but don’t really implement anything. There has been many complaints about the lack of support we get and the lack of training you get if you come in without recruiting experience. It does sometimes feel that there are definitely “favorite” employees. There is no action plan on how to grow or improve yourself. You need to create one for yourself and even then, you’ll get told there’s growth at other departments and you can always transfer. This place may be a good place to start your career if you’ve never done recruiting before, but it may not be the best for long term plans. Of course, everyone has their own perspective. There are people who have been on the team for a couple years and there are people who are completely new. Right now, all the managers have been with Omni for over 2+ years. The Seniors have been here for over 1-2 years. The rest of the team consist of people who’ve been here around 6 months with a couple that have been here for 1-2+ years. There are quarterly awards that they give out but besides those, there is not much else in terms of praise unless you bring it up first. You also do not get PTO until after a year of working at the Omni. You also do not get paid for holidays within the first 3 of employment.
