A Supportive Workplace with Room for Growth

      Senior procurement specialist
      Current employee
      Kuala Lumpur
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The company offers a solid compensation package with a salary that is slightly on par with market rates and decent insurance coverage for both employees and their dependents. The work environment is positive, with a collaborative team and supportive managers who foster a healthy culture. There's also the benefit of global exposure and flexibility, including well-provided work-from-home facilities like monitors, desks, chairs, and peripherals.

      Cons

Work-life balance is moderately maintained, although it can be impacted during peak times due to a hiring freeze, which sometimes leads to work overload. Career progression tends to be slow, and promotions or salary increments happen only once every 2-3 years, depending on market conditions.

      - Good environment - High basic pay - Hybrid - Work life balance

Good company to join to get your foot in the industry but not good for long term wellbeing

      Engineer
      Former employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

SLB has a world-class training program for their engineers in which you get to travel internationally. The training is rigorous and hands-on. Great gateway company for entering the oil and gas industry. Flexible work from home policy if you work in the office. SLB has a very international workforce and you will meet people from all around the world.

      Cons

As an engineer SLB expects you to be working all the time even on the weekends and to be on call 24/7. High turnover rate for managers, engineers and field crew which means the rest of the team has to take on additional responsibilities without a salary increase. Although SLB pays overtime, it's not worth the effort nor the stress and workaholic culture often takes a toll on family life and health from what I have seen and experienced. The shifts you are assigned in the field as an entry level engineer vary widely and frequently and will take a toll on your body. For the engineering program they pull you out of the field after about a year and put you in the office where you will have to deal with office politics.
