Poor Communication between Managing Couple and Different Directions Given to Staff

Working here was a challenge due to poor communication within the managerial team. The bussiness is owned by a founding couple. Unfortunately, each partner would often give me entirely different directions and I was unable to follow both in many instances. Things that were unimportant to one founder were extremely important to the other. One of the founders in addition to giving different directions than the other would also give instructions that contradicted themselves. For example, When setting up the display beds I made them in a pressed and tucked traditional fashion similar to how I had been trained to make beds at a major department store. The founder reprimanded me stating I hadn't followed the style guide and that the beds should be presented in a "lived in" unmade style. However, a few days later I was given a formal warning for not steaming the non visible underside of the doona cover to ensure there would be no possibility of fold lines being visible to customers if they were to pick the blanket up and flip it. This is only one example of many instances in which this founder would change their instruction and formally penalise me for small errors.
