How is management perceived at UT Southwestern Medical Center?

Lots of management support, tons of providers, good protocols, great policies, overall extremely safe, the benefits are among the best.

Extremely high acuity compared to other hospitals, extremely demanding job, high ratios, you feel like your just a number because it's such a large place, nurses are looked down upon, pay is not the best, nurses are micromanaged, they would rather hirer new grads than experienced nurses, lots of on-call requirements, lots of audits, required TRS deduction.

Fun environment, great management, flexible working hours and learned a lot

poor management-upper and lower management only look out for themselves, micro-management because they don't know how to manage adults, slow/no growth, bachelor or master degree or experienced doesn't matter no promotion, under staffed and no competitive pay compared to other companies.

can change positions after 6 months, part of teacher's pension plan, lots of entry level positions, free health insurance for self

It's hard to get promoted without transferring to another department, new managers hired mostly from outside, each department works in a silo, insurance for family members is expensive

Short staffed occasionally but getting better, patient population for med/surg is complex

I feel like this hospital lacks the cultural experience for African American employees . I also feel like manager make it impossible to have a home and work life balance. Floor managers are non existent so the assistant managers basically run the floor and there’s a lot of favoritism being played when that happens. They wants techs to do a lot more than just patient care. Most of them he techs are burnt out with no help from the nurses because most the the nurses are so entitled that they feel they are above patient care and they just want to pass meds.

Generous vacation time. Great benefits.

Bad management, not organized and you have to pay for your own parking and you have to park in the same garage as patients.
