How are the career development opportunities at Xsolla?

Dedicated employees hindered by poor leadership and communication

      Business outlook

      Pros

Many people I worked with are dedicated, talented, and knowledgeable in their field. Unfortunately, the workplace culture often relies heavily on their efforts without providing adequate support or recognition.

      Cons

The organization would benefit from stronger communication practices and more stable leadership. Employees frequently experienced uncertainty and stress due to inconsistent and often erratic decision making from senior leadership, starting with the CEO, HR leadership often chooses to reinforce or outright enable ineffective management practices.

Best place to work (someone with 1 year or less experience)

      Customer service representative
      Current employee
      Kuala Lumpur

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Work environment is healthy (due to most days of WFH) but when you are in office, your presence is highly appreciated. - HR always engage with other departments (organise in-office and out-office events) -Salary is quite high, especially for a job that's going to be replaced by AI in 5 years :( - The CEO is directly shaping the company, rather than BODs.

      Cons

      - Lack of trainers (straining the Team Leaders as they need to act as one) - Lack of career opportunities (understandable as the company is MNC, not Malaysian)

      Good Compensation, Questionable Job Security

      Pros

Xsolla offers a genuinely competitive compensation package, starting with a strong base salary and extending to a comprehensive suite of benefits. Employees enjoy excellent health, dental, and insurance coverage, alongside perks like a generous RM5,000 claimable budget, free gym memberships, and organized sports activities. The added convenience of free office parking further enhances the overall package. Beyond financial rewards, Xsolla prioritizes employee well-being and productivity. Flexible work arrangements, coupled with providing the latest laptops and productivity tools, empower employees to perform their best. The company also invests in its workforce through educational claim opportunities, a yearly bonus, and the ability to claim overtime, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and recognizing hard work.

      Cons

While Xsolla offers a strong benefits package, potential employees should be aware of certain drawbacks. The company has a reputation for frequent layoffs, particularly targeting those deemed underperformers, which can create a sense of instability. Additionally, product and team shutdowns are common occurrences, leading to potential disruptions in workflow and career paths. Internal politics within upper management can also be a significant factor, potentially hindering clear decision-making and creating a less transparent work environment. Finally, opportunities for career growth within the company may be limited, potentially leading to stagnation for ambitious employees.

Nothing so far. It really base on which team you join.

If you miss chaos and vague tasks, this company is for you.

      Technical lead
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

There is some optimism in the form of a few competent managers who strive to support their teams.

      Cons

The owner of the company consistently inserts themselves into every aspect of operations, disrupting employees' workflow by imposing their own ideas and thwarting established plans. It's virtually impossible to organize your day or coordinate team efforts, as their interference consistently undermines any progress. A significant disparity exists between the US headquarters and other offices. Colleagues in the US often disregard happenings in other branches and exhibit minimal interest in communicating with them. The management structure lacks clarity. Tasks can be assigned arbitrarily by individuals in high-level positions, often derailing plans and undermining team cohesion. Over the past two years, all motivational incentives have been eliminated, replaced solely by free food offerings preceding internal events. If you're in need of sustenance, this company caters to that need. Determining salaries and advancement opportunities seems akin to consulting a fortune teller. Sometimes, the company owner personally intervenes to approve or reject salary proposals for employees ranging from cleaners to VPs.

      Pros

The company is a fast-paced, environment-working company. It's like working in a bank, but it focuses more on the video game industry. It's a fun place to be working, and it offers a lot of benefits, especially for those who love games.

      Cons

The system update and the implementation of updating the company software took a long time to get approval. It can slow your performance and affect your monthly or daily productivity.
